Not a convertible man myself but I do love the look of them… your example looks fabulous. I think Carmine Red is one of the best colours for a Caymam/Boxster. I mayyy be a little biased, my GT4 is Carmine. It appears to be a rare colour…?
My previous Cayman S was PDK. it is a thing of genius and witchcraft.
Congrats… Enjoy.
Many tks . My previous Cayman S was PDK. it is a thing of genius and witchcraft.

I'm a huge fan of the 981 GT4.
Had mine in guards with the satin wheels .
Dream garage is my car plus my old 981 GT4 back for track days but that might = divorce :-)
Been a very long day now , time for Bed then up v early for a blast .
Tks all
Lovely early morning blast . PDK doesn't disappoint in any mode and also even on a gentle cruise it's just as enjoyable.
Didn't go too nuts earlier but it great the way the whole car suddenly wakes up when you hit the sports buttons.
Managed to find my ideal driving position now .
Gotta say I can't think what other car I'd want it's that good.

Congrats both - lovely cars in properly nice colours too.
I know some on here get tired of the endless 981 loving, and it has plenty of downsides for sure, but I've had my CGTS for 2.5 years, 17k miles and 6 track days now and it really is an incredibly accomplished all round sports car.
Enjoy guys

Funny I said to someone this morning that I just couldn't fault the car .
What's the downsides that get mentioned ?
Maybe not as fast as the newer car but plenty quick enough for me

Thanks. I went out for a dusk drive last night with the roof down and the sports exhaust on. On several occasions, I laughed out loud.I know some on here get tired of the endless 981 loving, and it has plenty of downsides for sure, but I've had my CGTS for 2.5 years, 17k miles and 6 track days now and it really is an incredibly accomplished all round sports car.

I'm using A LOT of petrol.

No Apple CarPlay
Ha yes good point and I have spent a little time doing some research on this. I found a P specialist that would do the full install ( keeping original screen) for £950 inclu VAT but for my usage and wanting to hear that engine/exhaust I'm now not going to rush into it .

Oh nothing major at all, just general downsides of a sports car I guess - the ride is very stiff, the cabin mists up easily, the engine can be a bit boomy at certain revs, the cabin noise on poor surfaces is high due to the wide tyres, etc. I just meant there are other cars that do specific things better, but on breadth of ability it's a car that really gets under your skin. For example, there are cars that can get to and from Brands more comfortably and there are cars that are quicker around Brands once you get there, but the 981 can still do either so well that you may as well just use it for both. Ditto weekends away, road trips, etc. I mean it'll even do 40mpg on the motorway Maybe not as fast as the newer car but plenty quick enough for me
Wasn't a criticism at all, I love the thing and use it for everything. It's annoyingly good in fact, as there are cars I sometimes might like to try in its place, but not ones I'd necessarily want to swap keys permanently for
Straight line speed wise it's a fast car - it needs to be at the business end of the rev range, but then that's why you went for the howling NA flat 6 right?

I very much love the howl ! Wasn't a criticism at all, I love the thing and use it for everything. It's annoyingly good in fact, as there are cars I sometimes might like to try in its place, but not ones I'd necessarily want to swap keys permanently for

For my usage the ride/spec/comfort is spot on but I guess I'm not doing regular long journeys.
I've had a lot of P cars both regular models and GT cars. Right now I'm thinking the GTS is the great halfway house.

Lol same here. Have you hunted out a tunnel yet? 2nd gear, full bore race car howl to the redline and then off the gas to hear it cracking and banging on the over run... and then apologise to anyone around you... honestly it's hysterical Porsche thought it was acceptable to leave the factory like that In fact it'll be more deafening for you guys as you have Boxsters!I'm using A LOT of petrol.
Nice to see a thread that ends in a couple of purchases. Congrats again both

Quite unintentionally I approached a tunnel y'day in sports plus and gave it the beans . Jesus H Christ ! Nice to see a thread that ends in a couple of purchases. Congrats again both
Not sure I'll be out tunnel hunting tbh at my age but I'll admit it's comical.
My GT4 was noisy but I'm not sure like this although it does make sense I got thrown off a track day.
Anyhow , roll on the weekend and some sunshine !

This is where I went wrong. I swapped my BGTS for a 992 C2S convertible (which is lovely) almost just to have a change & try something new, but reading all your tales of going through tunnels with pops & bangs on the overrun, I think I made a mistake…Wasn't a criticism at all, I love the thing and use it for everything. Have a look at my profile for some alternative ideas or if you fancy doing it yourself. That sounds like an awful lot to me, did that include adding a rear camera or just for the CarPlay mod?ATM said:

the ride is very stiff
If you don't choose the massive wheels and you choose the standard softer not lowered passive damper setup they are not stiff.I bought a set of 18” wheels as a bit of an experiment to try and the ride is much better. I then went from Pirelli to Goodyear to try and reduce the tyre noise, which is very noticeable on these cars and they helped reduce that too.
The real problem is our rubbish third world roads, not the damping, the 20” drive perfectly well with passive dampers on decent roads.
If I go on Eurohoons I use the 20”, the rest of the time I use the 18” which for me overall are the better every day option. I am sure the purists will be having a fit at the thought, but don’t knock it until you have tried it.
