It is not about the stitching, it is the premium feel one gets in the cabin with the leather (the stitching is a by-product).
Hey if you like spending that amount of money on a new car only to have plastic everywhere in the cabin, and to not see the value for approx £2% more of the total car price that the extended leather option brings to the party, fair enough.
the focus on 'its all about the engine' will subside, 6 months, 6 days, whenever, and you'll be wanting where you sit to look like it justifies the price paid.
But hey, knock yourself out with cheap looking plastic dashes. Go for it.
What a load of condescending drivel. It is the 4.0L NA engine that differentiates this GTS so if you think the feel good factor about the engine will subside then you would be better to consider a cheaper 4 cylinder variant and you will have plenty budget left for extended leather and other cosmetic enhancements.Hey if you like spending that amount of money on a new car only to have plastic everywhere in the cabin, and to not see the value for approx £2% more of the total car price that the extended leather option brings to the party, fair enough.

I've had numerous cars with and without extended leather and the only time I think about it is when selecting a cleaning product. It adds nothing to the driving experience and very little to the ownership experience.
Surely this is all Just about personal choice in specification and everyone will have different views on what’s essential, what’s ‘nice to have’ etc etc.
For me, I think the extended leather comes into the ‘nice to have’ category. I say this having previously purchased a second hand 997 GTS without it. Whilst it didn’t really detract at all from the ownership experience, for me it would certainly have been a nicer cabin with it.
The same applies to all extras. You choose what you want and pay the price on the ticket. If you don’t like the price don’t tick the box.
All in all though it not about someone being right or wrong!

Yes, adding options are expensive and you are unlikely to get your money back when you sell the car.
But the crucial thing is how long will you keep the car? If you are only planning having it a year or two then don't waste your money on things that you aren't going to use for long. If on the other hand you are going to keep the car for a good long time, then spend the money of the stuff you like: keep the cat ten years then you'll have ten years of pleasure from it.
