I love that someone felt the need to point out that a GTR is faster than a Cayman GTS. Of course it is! It is performance car. Not a sports car or a GT or anything like it. It is a rocket ship compared to any NA Porsche, I expect (save, perhaps, the GT3, which would stick with it on some roads). It is also one of the fattest, ugliest and classless cars that I have ever seen.

I think I must be getting old school - even the F-Type just looks far far too big, heavy and try-hard to me.

from some angles the f type is lovely, but that cut flat high as you like rear end just looks horrible IMO.

the new cayman is achingly pretty yet powerful looking

The F-Type does look kind of cool but the interior looks a little schizo with the design.

Also the top model of Cayman (GTS) is 55k while the top model of F-Type is 85k and the base coupe 60k........ it is also a lardy fat thing with pretty much a 20% increase over a Cayman hmmmm on the plus you really do get more car for your money

Sounds very much like my car (S) - will be interesting to see pictures as a comparison.

Given that one of the biggest criticisms of the Gen 1 Cayman was the lack of a LSD, I am amazed no one is specifying them on here.

I have PVT on my options and hope it will be worth the £890..... I didn't have a chance to try a demo but thought I would take a punt. Standard turn in was great for road driving but it was just looking at me on the options list, if I hadn't of taken it I would have been constantly thinking what-if.

i keep looking at leather, then GTS interior, then GTS interior plus carbon buckets, then leather and sports seats, then adding PCM, then removing PCM, then wishing i could afford PCCB frown

I know what you mean and played with the configurator for about 5 weeks fiddling with stuff, thankfully I'm now locked in and can't make any changes.

There maybe quite a few options on the list but I saved a bundle (about £5.5k) by not having PDK, PCM or electric seats that a lot of people seem to be choosing

I would not opt for GTS interiors: too expensive though I love those leather trims.

New to the forum.

My new baby gets made in July and is:

White, Satin Platinum Carrera wheels, PDK, torque vectoring, PCM, Bluetooth phone prep, BOSE, seat heating, digital radio, folding mirrors, entry and drive

http://www.porsche.com/microsite/porsche-code/?c=/...

Can't wait to receive my second mid-life crisis car. My current one is a first gen Cayman S from new used as a daily driver with 80,000 miles on the clock. loved every minute of it.

if the GT4 Cayman is not to my liking I will be watching when you sell this car, sweet spec. (but I would keep the GTS badge, it's part of the car)

PM me what your thoughts were on the F430 as your garage is a bit like mine in car choices.

Plonk the loud pedal to the floor in a middle of a 2nd gear corner and you miss having an LSD. Otherwise, it is pretty much pointless in a car with only around 320bhp and loads of grip/traction.

Also, the basic Porsche LSD is largely for show. It is not far off technically inert (or becomes so if you actually use it at all).

I looked into this for quite a while after having initially wanted an LSD on my 987.2 (for the 2nd gear reason above), but worked out it would be a very expensive waste of time.

I am surprised so many people want PTV, to be honest, given that its a quick way of wearing out brakes and tyres (if you actually use it) and is otherwise v expensive for something unnecessary (because the car has excellent turn in anyway, esp on the lowered suspension).

Heated seats and Buckets? I didn't think this was possible.

Great spec though. PCCBs would really top it off, but they are a big extra.

Sutcliffe really rated the Sport suspension in recent test.

Oh. Wonder if retro fit is possible.

I know there are third party options, but it would be nice having a proper job done.

It would help those winter roof off drives.

It can be done. I enquired about getting sport buckets (without heating elements) fitted to by 981 Cayman and had to contact Porsche Exclusive department in Stuttgart in Germany. (My dealer was unhelpful and just said it can't be done and I emailed them a reply from Porsche AG which corrected them).

The reply on cost is:
Seats £3144.26 + vat each
Labour is 1.6 hours
Total fitted price is £7791.98 inc vat

However this seat price was without the heating elements. Just leather sport buckets. So if you want to price that too contact Dominic Mayer at Porsche AG if your dealer is too lazy to enquire. email is customercenter-exclusive@porsche.de
