GT4 RS breaks cover then...
Discussion
So, a lot of people do think the GT4RS is only a track car? I beg to differ !
I did a 90 minutes blast with the RS yesterday with a friend of mine, I`m still running the car in off course. Only B roads, keeping the revs under 6K.
And it is just unbelievable how this car makes you smile, it is so alive and kicking (Yes that is Simple Minds I know ? The car does not feel harsh, nor too loud (at least below 6K RPM) It moves and rotates so good, this car makes everyone feeling alive (and kicking).
You do not have to pul it to 9K RPM constantly to enjoy this car, at moderate RPM`s it's just as pleasurable! You really can do it all with this amazing car.
This car is very, very good at these roads, and IMHO nothing wrong not taking this car to the track, and drive it just trough insane landscapes and enjoy it there.
My friend, who's has bought a 992 T, was just flabbergasted about my car, he used to own a 991.2 GT3, and he said the GT4RS is a way better car than his former GT3.
I als had the opportunity to drive his 992 T MT, just so easy to drive, wonderfulp MT, wonderfulp steering/breaking, no feeling of a light front end. Sticks very well to the road, a wonderfulp daily driver IMHO

Great writeup Romo. As you say the 4RS is so much fun driving on B roads where its compact size gives it the edge over any 992. The noise it makes sends goose pimples down your spine.
The low gearing also makes it so much more fun on B roads as you get to access so much of the performance without having to go up to silly illegal speeds. On balance I still think its my favourite Porsche I've owned.

^ Fully agree !
The RS makes also very clear how much headroom the 718 GT4 left on the table, the difference between the 718 GT4 and GT4RS is really night and day, the mushy, laggy feeling from my former 718 GT4 PDK is no contest what so ever compared to the directness of the RS, as I said before, this car makes a very loud and clear statement what its all about in the very 1st km`s driven. This car leaves no doubt about its intentions.
I've done 500 km so far, because I do have yellow stitching, my seat inlays are not the standard grey (or blue when ordered) but black !
When magnified you can detect the 500km :-)

It's taken a while but finally a GT4RS owner has posted a 100-200kph time on Dragy. It did a 7.45, thought with them being PDK it might have been a bit quicker.

AutoTopNL did 7.36 with the 992 GT3 at 7.46. So all in the same ballpark: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1YI-Q8I_rjr...Romo said:

Be interested in hearing an expansion of where the same car with albeit 70 extra hp is massively better during the run in period than a fully loosened up PDK GT4?The RS makes also very clear how much headroom the 718 GT4 left on the table, the difference between the 718 GT4 and GT4RS is really night and day, the mushy, laggy feeling from my former 718 GT4 PDK is no contest what so ever compared to the directness of the RS, as I said before, this car makes a very loud and clear statement what its all about in the very 1st km`s driven. I know it’s stiffer and the gearing is shorter, but what else makes it so much better on the road even when using way less revs and power?

On the road, if you're not driving like you stole it, I doubt the RS is "massively better" unless drag racing away from traffic lights is your thing. Maybe that's how some people drive on the road, but not wishing to lose my licence I save it for track days.I know it’s stiffer and the gearing is shorter, but what else makes it so much better on the road even when using way less revs and power?
From what I can gather through a friend (who has a PDK GT4 and a GT4RS) the RS is like an angry wasp compared to the smoother, more refined GT4. The RS demands your attention as throttle response is instant, gear changes are completed at light speed and grip levels are higher. On track this all makes sense and lap times are quicker, as you'd expect.
However, the GT4 is no slouch and can certainly lap quickly if you have the skills to extract the most out of it. Especially with a good geo setup and PASM set to Sport Chassis.
It'll be interesting to see what people think of the RS after the initial honeymoon period is over. I can see some people finding it tiring and a bit too manic for anything other than a full-on track session after a good nights sleep!
All I can say;
The RS is far more direct, on every aspect you can think off.
And that is immediate noticeable, even on B roads, so you don't need to go to track to feel the difference.
I used to own a 718 GT4 PDK, and that car off course is not bad nor slouch. But it lacks for sure the directness of the RS.

^ Thats true.
Just speaking for myself;
I like action-reaction in a car, for me it's the equivalent for a sportscar.
So the directness or sharper-faster reactions of the RS compared the the 718 GT4 is more to my personal liking, so better in that respect. (compared standard settings, so no tweaking around)
But horses for courses indeed. You can't go wrong with either car.

Just interested, I presume it’s got a quicker steering rack and solid bushes?
I also didn’t realise the PDKs was faster changing in the RS, never read any of these things in the blurb.
I’d love one if I could get one but just need to stick with the 4 I think which granted was awful at the rear until I added the handling pack.
