Like px1980 I ordered early January and found a dealer with an available allocation for March. Build confirmed for late March so hope to have the car in April
Would you mind sharing the dealer name? I’ve just phoned another dealer, they said unless somebody cancelled their order there’s no allocation available.stewieyan said:

Porsche West London. But he did say that had I called a week later, the build date would be Q4 earliest, and possibly Q1'22. At the time I also called Porsche Mayfair and Porsche East London, Mayfair said the same (Q4 or Q1'22) while Porsche East London said 2022 and possibly even as late as 2023, which sounded like a joke.

Just astounded how disorganised this is, not quite typical for a German business.

What happened to your 718? Looks stunning. Where is it off to?
It’s a Guildford now. It would have gone in a few months anyway, but I can’t drive it anyway. I wasn’t in negative equity, so made sense to let it go.
It was such a stunner in GT Silver too. Sad to see it go.

I see there are now many stories appearing about the semiconductor shortage & the effect on car makers , one of them did mention VWGroup , the general consensus seemed to be that this is going to take 3-4 months to clear and most makers are therefore giving preference to profitable models ,ok this isnt anyones fault but you would have hoped Porche/OPC would be a little more forthright , in my case the only fact I can get is my car wont be here this month as originally advised ,

You will be contacted by the dealer a week before it goes into build so you can make any changes before its build is locked down . Its then around 6 weeks before it hits the dealership. If you are expecting the car to be delivered this month and you havent had the call then it isnt being built im afraid.
Porsche sales know this so i dont understand why they aren't saying ?
As for profitable models ,VW must be fuming? Relesse the new golf mk8 and you can get one for over 24 weeks?

My experience with the dealership after placing an order back in December is far from ideal. If you are expecting the car to be delivered this month and you havent had the call then it isnt being built im afraid.

I wish they could just communicate to their customers what the exact process is.
Is there any way to send a complaint to Porsche headquarters? Do they take those complaints seriously?

It looks like the only manual available too.

Any complaints to Porsche head office will be routed back to the offending dealership and the dealer principal will contact you to resolve your issue or just feed you a load of bull and you bend over and accept it. I wish they could just communicate to their customers what the exact process is.

Out of curiosity. If the opc doesn’t get the car to you bythe specified date or close to it. Are you within your rights to get the full deposit back ?
As far as I know, yes, you can cancel any time up until the time you lock your build spec. However an OPC taking your deposit doesn’t guarantee you a car. Charlie_1 said:

These are not normal times - back in July 2020 - I was not given one week notice of build lockdown for my GTS 4.0. When I contacted my OPC to make a change (black callipers back to red) I was informed it was too late as build was already locked down (in the end I was happy that I stayed with black). Just offering a counterpoint, it might still turn up.
That's a bit naughty as there is no reason for them not to and give you the option of changing spec.Tbh that's the first time ive heard they havent?

The bottom line is you should always have your "final" spec in with your order as late changes aren't always possible. Once spec is locked, it's locked. No exceptions.
