Proof that a manual is quicker than a PDK!!

Yep, we will see that in our lives I am afraid.
Only then, we will get to say 'I told you so!'
Not a chance. The cost will be prohibitive. And we have almost no road traffic deaths in this country anyway. It's pretty much at optimum level, which I know is an unattractive concept. Spending billions for a few lives a year won't happen.Only then, we will get to say 'I told you so!'
The cars will be too expensive for a full roll out, and until full roll out, they'll be dangerous. So it's fantasy stuff except, maybe, for big cities and major motorways (where the cost of automation through external or car-car control may be bearable).

Autonomous cars would only be in a select few rich countries, though. The majority of the world's population is still using bicycles and motorbikes today while we're on here lamenting the demise of tactility in our Porsches.
Driver-controlled vehicles are here for a long, long time yet.

unfortunately the film just demonstrates that Jason is better at braking and generally quicker on that circuit ( that no doubt he's been round a lot more times ) than Johnny Rally Chap.
I have no axe to grind here. On the road my gearbox of choice is a manual - I prefer it, for me it's more fun. On a he race track, I'm competing so I'll take a flat shift all day long over a manual. But then, on the track, I'm looking to win. That's where my fun is. On the road, ill leave the traffic lights grad prix to other guys. I

Lower fuel consumption for PDK...? Not in my experience.
I've owned several manual Porsches in the past, now have a 981 Boxster S PDK, and currently trying to decide whether to get a PDK or manual Boxster GTS.
I like enjoy both manual and PDK equally, for very different reasons, making the decision even harder!
One thing I've found with the PDK car (which was contrary to expectations) is that the long-term fuel consumption is significantly higher in the 981 S PDK car than my previous car, 987.2 S manual.
Maybe this is because when I'm wanting to drive in a spirited way and switch into 'manual mode' I need to drive far harder in the PDK to get a real feeling of involvement.
As a side note, I find Porsche's average consumption figures very achievable compared to the likes of VW or BMW.

So a bit of a "harder driven PDK car, returns worse mpg than a lightly driven manual" shocker?Maybe this is because when I'm wanting to drive in a spirited way and switch into 'manual mode' I need to drive far harder in the PDK to get a real feeling of involvement.

Shamelessly copied from Planet 9, this video puts Jason Plato and Marcus Gronholm in two 981 Caymans, one manual and the other PDK. The outcome, is unless you're chasing 0-60 stats, the manual is quicker.
Let the debate continue..................

Very clever driving without holding on to the steering wheel, don't worry, no chance of a blow out.Let the debate continue..................

To me PDK is great, most people assume it is an automatic gear box as opposed to an automatically controlled gearbox.
In todays driving conditions it makes sense to have a PDK instead of a manual.
It saves creasing your trouser legs as no bending the legs.
Plus it frees up your changing gear hand to "adjust your trousers" whilst driving!!In todays driving conditions it makes sense to have a PDK instead of a manual.
