My 718 Spyder sold today and I placed an order for a boxster gts4.0. March 22 they are saying. So a small wait. But that’s fine.

May I ask why you sold the 718 Spyder for the GTS? Seem quite similar cars depending on planned use.http://www.porsche-code.com/PM8PXVI7
We’re not getting on with the running in very quickly, but have enjoyed the miles we have managed
The car feels amazing and sounds sublime even under 4K!
Front grills now fitted to protect rads, plus plate change to get rid of age related item.
I’d forgotten how much hard work black cars are to clean well.

To put it as simply as I can, I think the gas is a better road car than the Spyder. Mainly due to the easier to use roof, and the £15000 saving, and I can spec one to my liking. There is a more detailed answer about 5 posts before yours

I'm toying with both these. The better residuals of the Spyder make the finance payments significantly easier to handle, and over a three year period I wonder whether it would actually be cheaper to own a Spyder. There is a more detailed answer about 5 posts before yours

I just had a look at lease loco for an indication of rates.Seems the GT4 actually works out cheaper than the GTS 4.0s and the Spyder is more expensive than both.
Most expensive lease out of all of the 718s is the Boxster 25 edition, presumably because it's only just come out?
I've had my 4.0 982 Boxster for five months and have managed to do 1000 miles adhering to lockdown restrictions. I've also been fortunate to own lots of nice toys over the years; Italian, British and German but this car is just brilliant. The manual gear change shades a 997 GT3 RS 4.0, it's joy to drive.
That's all

Are you comparing the 25 with a similar specced gts ?Seems the GT4 actually works out cheaper than the GTS 4.0s and the Spyder is more expensive than both.

Interesting. If you price them up on the Porsche website and do the finance calcs, the Spyder and GT4 are broadly similar. Over 2 years I was looking at £21.5k in and £485 a month for a reasonably specced Spyder. GT4 was slightly lower monthlies. Balloon on both was way higher than the GTS 4.0, hence the much lower monthlies I guess.Seems the GT4 actually works out cheaper than the GTS 4.0s and the Spyder is more expensive than both.

When you have the figures in front of you its shocking ? £1k a month before any running costs.cowboyengineer said:

I think the same for GT4/Cayman GTS as well. The GT4's limits are a lot higher and you can't use the performance (mainly suspension/braking wise) on the road. GTS suspension is more compliant and it's a bit more playful on the road. So I would say, if you're not tracking your GT4/Spyder, get a GTSThe GTS 4.0 is starting to interest me...everything I’ve read and watched (Harry’s Garage) concluded that it’s a brilliant drive, however there seems to be quite a few for sale twenty five on Auto-trader alone.
Also I’ve run through the configurator many times and ended up with the same spec...nothing extra above the base car which surprised me.
All but one for sale is above the base price for a used car...are they being kept high by the dealers..??? by the numbers for sale it would seem there are too many cars and not enough buyers.
The sensible choice would be to keep my low miles 987.2 CS and stop looking at the latest shiny metal...but you know how it is.

Having "ghosted" on this thread for a while I've taken the plunge and bought this...

So thought I'd see what other PHers think.
It's a showroom car spec'd by the dealer. I saw it through the window one day and it just happened to have 90% of the options I wanted. Collecting on Friday and very excited. Coming out of an original 2016 M2 and only ever tried the 4cyl Cayman, so will be interested to see how good the 4.0 really is. No test drive due to lockdown so it's a leap of faith but a fairly low-risk one by all accounts!

My take is that this may be a shake-out of the higher-than-might-have-been-expected supply of GB-ordered GTS 4.0 into the UK caused by the run up to potential no deal Brexit. Because of the fears of tariffs, folk like me who ordered in Q3 2020 had to sign a letter saying the car may have a tariff. So Porsche seem to have prioritised GB orders to get the cars in before 31 December. When I ordered mine in Aug 2020, it was quite hard even to find one at a dealer to test-drive. (I went to PEC Silverstone.) Mine arrived barely seven weeks after the order (at least six weeks earlier than expected.) And now, judging by people on here, those looking to order a new one now are being quoted delivery end 2021 / early 2022 (if given a date at all). That's why I think you are seeing quite a few new or nearly new ones on sale. They will eventually find homes and then there will be a shortage (if supply problems reported on here are representative). Maybe we will wonder why so few 2021 registered cars on the used lots in the future! Also I’ve run through the configurator many times and ended up with the same spec...nothing extra above the base car which surprised me.

The car looks stunning. Very well done. It has all the options I'd have. (Quite a few I wish I had ordered.). Mine is Carrara White / silver wheels. I wish you lots of luck and you will love it.PMX9APH1

Interested to hear if there was much room for negotiation. These cars are now approaching 6 months old (on paper) and look like they've only dropped £1k in that time and you still have the £2k registration fee on what is listed as a demo ?PMX9APH1
