Thanks Evo9lution, lovely post - stunning scenery and a not too shabby looking GT4 smile
Thanks fella! thumbup
Nice pics EVo9, and absolutely agree about the Susten, my favourite Swiss pass.... especially when linked with the Grimsel and Furka ! I try and get there every year, but looks like my early July trip is doomed :-(
I also have a trip booked for early July, although most of Europe will be opening up 15th June I am in doubt that the UK will lift travel restrictions by then, but the hotel I have booked in Lyon still plans to be open, If restrictions are lifted for the beginning of July it's going to be a last minute affair for me.

Thanks mate.

You may be able to make it out for July (see below) ...

Any UK restrictions will be coming back only, so if you can WFH it may not be too much of a hassle for you. If Switzerland's borders are open, the only issue you would have is France and they are allowing people to enter the country as long as they are transitioning through (i.e. as long as you hit France in one go without staying in a hotel in France overnight) - though it seems like it will be open by then, as you say. Countries have had a hard enough time of things without also killing tourism for the year, if they can avoid it!

Thanks. It was a personalised order made through the company that Porsche Zentrum Basel use for their race cars and protection wrap (I also had the Expel Ultimate frontal wrap installed at the same time). Fortunately, they are based just down the road from me (http://www.foliendienst.ch/).

The design was inspired by the GT4 Sports Cup Edition sold exclusively in Germany.

Beautiful pictures and a fantastic looking car. Need to do Susten and Klausen too. Has been long on my list and given lower then usual traffic now may be the moment.

[quote=Kam 1 ]

I’m having some issues. The only way I can close it is by sitting back in the car and using the handle part pushing the roof into place whilst the latch goes on. If I don’t do this it will not connect. Also the key fob won’t close the roof either (not that it would work on its own anyway) - it has worked once in two months, and I’ve driven a fair bit so nothing to do with the battery. Yeah it’s annoying... Had the 981 for 3.5 years, never had a single problem, used to close it from outside the car. [/quote

It helps if you have a person in passenger seat both gently pull the roof down. But it’s hit or miss. Annoying when you want to park up or a dusty road and you want to pop it up quickly stop the dust going in the car and it won’t close..Back to my OPC I think.?

Like the GT4 Sports Cup Edition very much (white and black versions), there are some showing on the new car stock on the German Porsche website.

I see that you decided not to wrap the wing mirrors and that the PORSCHE decal on the wing follows the curve whereas Porsche now use the straight version on this and the GT4 Clubsport, probably because it's easier to apply.

Thanks mate.

If you're going to do one, definitely do the Susten. The Klausen is very narrow (single track) in parts and that can detract from the fun quite a lot as it can be hard to either push on or watch the scenery properly. I remember doing the Klausen in 2018 as my first pass drive of 2018 and thinking that it was great. I then immediately headed over to the Susten Pass and remembered how wonderful it was (I hadn't driven it since summer 2017) and didn't drive a different Alpine pass all of the rest of the year.

A good route would be the to do the "Big Three" (Susten, Grimsel and Furka), Klausen, and Fluela Passes.

A route combining these could be:
- Grimsel Pass from Innertkirchen southbound
- Furka Pass east to Andermatt
- Head north towards Wassen and follow the Susten Pass east to west to Innertkirchen
- Turn around and drive the Susten Pass west to east to Wassen
- Head north to Altdorf (put in fuel at the Shell garage at the western foot of the Klausen Pass) before heading over the pass to Linthal
- Head to Davos (set either a scenic or fast route in your sat nav)
- Drive the Fluela Pass from north Davos east to Susch, turn around and do it again

What I have suggested is a long route so maybe too much for one day (unless an early start) but if you stayed in one of the chalets around the foot of the Susten / Grimsel Passes and again in Davos, it probably wouldn't be too bad. There is also a Shell (V-Power Racing 100) in Davos as well as Altdorf - Burgen King next to the Shell in Altdorf too, if you need a spot of lunch.

I recommend doing the Susten both ways as it's a very interesting road and is very different depending on which way you drive it (uphill switchbacks vs downhill switchbacks; downhill open section vs uphill open section). If you wanted to avoid that, you could either head over to the foot of the Furka at Andermatt and head west to the Grimsel before taking the Susten east at Innertkirchen toward Wassen (uphill switchbacks and downhill open section) or start at Wassen and head west on the Susten (uphill open section and downhill switchbacks, obviously) before turning south onto the Grimsel and Innertkirchen and then east on the Furka to Andermatt.

Just an idea for you (or someone).

[Personally, I tend to avoid the Grimsel & Furka Passes (though I may actually drive them this coming Friday to see if I had misjudged them) as I think that the Susten is just so good. The Furka is narrow in places and if you get stuck behind someone going slowly and who will not stop in one of the pull-in points, you can get stuck behind and frustration can build very quickly.]

I thought about wrapping the mirrors but decided to keep them yellow and just apply the Expel Ultimate kit there. Getting this done at an independent design and wrap installation place was definitely worth it IMO.

If you haven’t tried it yet, try the Nufenen pass. It’s probably my favourite. You need to be careful of how easy it is to build up speed though.

Agree on the Nufenen. It's not so scenic, but as a driving road, brilliant. It's the quietest too. I prefer east to west.

OK, I'm off work the week that it opens so I'll give it a try. Susten west to east, Nufenen east to west, Grimsel south to north may be a good route (I'm not a fan of the Furka so this maybe gives a good alternative three-pass triangle route.

Thanks guys thumbup

Your design studio looks great though a little far away for us but would be a great post-lockdown excuse for a road trip not that I would ever need an excuse to drive those passes once more.

I know I said this earlier but I’ve now done lots more miles with my roof off & my JCR titanium race pipe fitted - I can’t tell you the difference it’s made to the car sorting out the sound - revolutionises the whole package - I now absolutely love this car it’s epic !

I can’t suggest strongly enough that if you can, you really should add one of these.

Sorry - will not mention it again smile

Would it be legal on most track days now though? If not, defeats the object of the car somewhat (GT4 anyway) ...
