I'm just working my way through this thread slowly after finding a GTS 4.0 build slot and putting the deposit down yesterday.

I haven't got any further forward from Jan 2020 yet to see if others have made a similar reply since, but I must say this was a spot on comment!

do you mean allocation coz you dont normally get a slot unless you have an allocation

Interested to know when you were told to expect delivery. Another thread on here is suggesting a significant delay, possibly 2023!
I've heard the same, or at least Q2 2022 onwards.

I was resigned to the same delays for a new order via my local OPC but decided to do an email blast to every OPC within 150 miles to try my luck (for an S or GTS given the circumstances). I stumbled on a very recently cancelled GTS 4.0 order at another OPC and jumped on it.

Not sure of the correct terminology to be honest (this is my first venture into the world of Porsche) but I'm told spec freeze date is 23rd Sept and expected delivery is late Nov/early Dec. Hopefully that's not total bo**ocks but the salesman seems legit. Fingers crossed...

I'm on the verge of putting a deposit down on a Cayman GTS this Monday, can't find one to test drive, but I had a 3.2 986 about 10 years ago, so I'm confident I'll enjoy the 4.0

That’s an actual allocation for a car rather than the OPC hoping to get one. So no spec freeze late Sept sounds roughly right for a Nov/Dec delivery.

The 2022 crew are orders without allocations.

You’ve done really well finding an OPC with a cancelled order and no backlog.

Thanks, that's good to know!

Very lucky indeed it seems. It was just an email blast initially asking for someone get in touch to discuss an S/GTS. Then a short follow up saying I don't want to waste their time, just looking for an OPC with a build slot on an S/GTS so if they don't have any thanks anyway and all the best, if they do please let me know. I was quite amazed that one replied to say they'd just had a GTS order cancel!

Now to spend the next 5 weeks wringing my hands over the colour and spec :-)

That process is fun and infuriating in equal measures! What I found really useful was going to the OPC and seeing some of the options / standard equipment in the flesh. I made some big changes to my spec. after going down. All depends on what they have in stock though. Good luck!

Thanks, yes I did exactly that yesterday.

- Switched to Agate Grey instead of Guards Red, quite the change I know but seeing Guards Red in the usual cloudy British weather changed my mind.
- Decided I don't need the GTS Interior, I know many disagree but it just doesn't feel like good value for money (resale aside which I'm not basing my decisions on). Its only in the course of making this decision that I remembered or looked at the blue stitching and leather dash/interior in my current M340i - that's how little I consider the dash/interior details when driving.
- Added the LED headlights given that much of my driving is in the dark on unlit B-roads, and I love the LED's in the BMW.

I also got a test drive of a Boxster S, which reinforced how lucky I have been to stumble on a GTS. I've read a lot about the 2.5 engine in the Boxster S and whilst I'm not ideologically against the 4-pot, I was surprised that it wasn't much more characterful or enjoyable than the 3.0 i6 in the BMW. The Boxster also rattled worse than any car I've ever been in, such is the life of a demo I suppose.

No doubt I'll be making more changes to the spec in the coming weeks though!

I also dropped the GTS interior, seemed expensive for what it was. Currently thinking cruise, the BOSE stereo and possibly the dual climate control.

Not thought about the LED lights, will look into that too.

Still unsure about the wheels, tempted by the Carrera style ones.

I’m just ordering my 2nd Boxster GTS, I wrote the first one off last September frown. Last one was Gentian Blue, this one will be Shark Blue with PDK and PCCB’s.

8 months delivery apparently.

Is that the Gentian Blue Cat S one currently up for sale on Autotrader?

It is. The repair quote was more than it’s currently listed for.

Been looking at the GT4s for sale on AT.

Wow, beautiful cars. Not jealous of all you guys that have one or have ordered one, but exasperated by life that something so nice is so out of reach.

Think they look better than most modern 911s.

Very wet french motorway, diesel on the road after the toll booths. I clipped a curb, burst a tyre then span twice hitting the curbs on both sites breaking the suspension and gearbox.

Ordered my GTS at the beginning of July and was told February build, March delivery. I was also told I would not get confirmation of this until September when Porsche should confirm my order.

Just ordered my GTS. Shark blue (slightly hesitant on that, might change to Gentian once I see it in person).

Was told delivery Q2 next year but obviously no allocation for a while.

I've ordered mine as well, was told early Q2 for delivery, but something tells me that it's optimistic https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-58266794

Here is the spec I'm going for: http://www.porsche-code.com/PN8XVF15

I saw that... particularly interesting since I’ve had a GR Yaris on order since the beginning of Feb. Thought I might get that before Christmas - but it seems I might not!

I agree Q2 seems optimistic and there were a few people in front of me as well (3 I think).

I like your spec - guards red is a favourite of mine but I just have in my head that my car is going to be blue for some reason. I’ve never had a reversing camera before and so thought I wouldn’t miss it... I didn’t go for cruise control either...

My spec is http://www.porsche-code.com/PNGD5MZ1
