Lots will not buy but lots will. There was uproar when cars became turbo and pdk only. Still sold. Same with Cayenne and Macan when they first came out. I think we should buy what suits us and the manufacturers will learn to go where the market is.
When did they become turbo and PDK only? I’m on my second and fourth Caymans. First and third were turbo and manual 718s. Second and fourth both naturally aspirated and manual: One 981 GT4; one 718 GTS 4.0 delivered only a couple of months ago and just about run in. I think the electric Cayman will be a phenomenal drive when it turns up. Range will be an issue, because it is for all EVs at the moment. Noise will matter less if it flies past any GT4 RS on the track for a few laps before it needs charging. Not saying I will buy one, but I’ll definitely want to have a “do” in one to see what it’s like. Charging will become more available, everything about the cars will get better.
You are absolutely right that they will sell. Possibly even to me as a winter hack, but only if it can do the job better than the GTS 4.0. I think that one is going to take some beating in that department. It’s a really good car, and may even get used for summer commuting instead of the GT4 at times next year.

It’s not all that electric. Seems to have an exhaust pipe, and in the final clip seems to have an exhaust note as it pulls away. Hybrid?
Liam
Maybe that isn’t an exhaust trim at all, it could be a speaker - scroll through a couple of menus, select PSE (Porsche Sound Emitter), scroll down past Darracq to Lambo V10 - sorted. Liam

Didn't seem to be an option for my GTS 4.0 . I was told they didn't sound good compared to the old 981 GT4. Got to disagree, from inside the cabin they are an absolutely brilliant sounding thing. Different, and a little quieter, granted, but just great!Liam

Can clearly see the pipe is just a bit of trim with black plastic inside.Liam
And I heard no exhaust note, just one of those spacey sounding EV noises coming from speakers.
Just watching a SavageGeese review on the 911T and they've just said the 718 GTS 4.0 is soon to be killed off like the GT4 has been.
Get one if you can folks. Plenty of new unregistered 4.0s on the Porsche approved website but God they're expensive!!
Cancelled orders perhaps?

As I find myself banging on about all over... with the ability right now to make carbon zero petrol/diesel from free air, free water, and cheap electricity anywhere in the world these exist, why go to all the bother of mining lithium, transporting it, building batteries, building EVs, scrapping EVs, spending billions on chargers nationwide?
Just put the development money into E-fuel and put it in a tanker/petrol station/ICE car. An endless cycle of recycling CO2, not one which uses up the Earth's precious resources to make batteries.
Oil's running out. Oh look... so is lithium, aluminium, unobtanium, etc...
Perhaps head over to the EV and Alternative Fuels forum and do a bit of research. You may then realise why people aren't listening to you and your massively over-simplistic thoughts on the viability of e-fuels as anything other than a niche product to keep interesting older cars on the road / greenwashing motor sport.Just put the development money into E-fuel and put it in a tanker/petrol station/ICE car. Pretty sure they must be cancelled orders. They tend not to make any for dealers aside from demo cars. The first couple of brand new 4.0 GTS I looked at seemed to be somewhere around list price. If there are any up for much more than list, they’ll probably be hanging around for a while. Must be a few people nervous about financial stability in the short to medium term.Get one if you can folks. Thanks for the replies. What are the chances of a small discount if demand dries up? We all see what's happening in the used market.
Are we subject to the the EU cybersecurity rules for new cars produced from July 2024? That would definitely stop production but it's a bit of a tightrope to walk.
I think the July 2024 rules about all new cars registered from that point being required to have an ISA system fitted is still coming in. I’d advise getting one on your drive before it’s got all that cr@p on it, which may be tricky if you want a new one and it’s not already ordered. Are we subject to the the EU cybersecurity rules for new cars produced from July 2024?
