Had a good look at the 'delivery arm' at Oulton, admire your desire to make the best of any situation, full respect. Am I right to assume you had a 987 Spyder which you took on a trip around Scotland?
Yes indeed, we have had driving holidays in the Highlands for many, many years. Unfortunately, we are right at the very limit for managing these now and may not make it there in the new Spyder. We are having a year off this year (staying away is incredibly hard work for us both), but might just find a way next.

Anyway, thanks to all for the kind words. We are not heroes though; just muddling along like most.

There's no getting around the fact that everything we do is terribly difficult, but c'est la vie. We are not about to complain that it's hard for us to enjoy yet another new Porsche...

Autochair are about to use us (and the Spyder) in some small way in some advertising, so watch out for that. We have been good customers for them, having had the lift in a GT3, RS4, S3, M235i and the Spyder. They were intrigued by the flip-side of the usual presentation of their gear in managing disability; that - for some at least - there is more to it than just accessing transport more easily, it can be about doing things you want to do but which conventional wisdom says you cannot.

The funny thing is that we were recently looking at some wheelchair-accessible-vehicles (where Paula would stay in her wheelchair on-board) for the day to day stuff, or more. We had a couple of demos at home. I don't think the companies could quite accept that we had decided to buy a Porsche Spyder instead! :-D

Also, Autochair were very concerned when they took in the Spyder for adaptation.

"We really don't think Paula will be able to access the car when the roof is on", they warned.

Ha ha. Roof... what roof?

:-)

Just loving your posts and your determination to get on with life. What an example to us all.

My original post (see below) and those who responded now seem to fade into the background.

Its the getting out that can be tricky! Currently practicing one arm press ups!

Any tips on graceful exit would be appreciated"

It would be great to see you both at some time time during the coming season.

You and Paula are a great example and role model for us all. If you decide to venture up to Glasgow this year please give me a call. It would be great to meet and talk about those Highland trips. cool

Update on the rear speakers not working with SSP. --- I have the car booked into the OPC tomorrow, they recon its a software upgrade issue in the PCM unit. Will keep you informed of the results.
The OPC had a look at the car this morning and confirmed that it was not a coding error in the PCM but that this car has been built wrong putting the basic sound system in rather than SPP which was clearly ordered. It is now a warranty issue. Awaiting feedback from Porsche on its next move. Will keep you informed of any developents.....

You should have. Jeff has the same issue I think. SPP option description below, I would check with my OPC.

In happier news, got my daughter to time me putting the roof up at normal pace....
53 secs all in (and I'm still getting to grips with it).

I reckon with a cloud burst heading my way I could crack 40 secs biggrin

Re SPP- do your cars have DAB or have they forgotten that too?
I've ordered SPP (as it has DAB) plus Bose.

You should ask someone to point a hose at you while you wife films it and times it - then post on here so that we can see the results! wink

Ok Spydermen, this looks like it could get serious, but also a lot of fun.......
Let's see how quick this can be done.

For those who have watched the Henry Catchpole Spyder road trip diary clip on the EVO website, "look it's going to rain"....
Let's see how fast we can put this baby up.... (Always plenty of time to put it down...)

Rules are - sat in the drivers seat windows down, clock starts when you pull the button.... Clock stops when you're sat back in the drivers seat, roof locked, windows up and doors shut..... Nice and snug. smile

So at walking pace I'm at 53 secs.. But I'm off to practice David Beckham styleee

We could make this an Olympic sport (in my world).

Good luck........

Looks like I'll need to get into training. I am 8 seconds behind. Will there be disqualifications for those high on illegal substances or sniffing petrol biggrin
