I had a 981 GTS before the 4.0
The 981 was certainly louder going slowly at low revs, more of an event and race-car like.
But the 4.0 also sounds sublime and gets noticeably much louder with miles. I'm over 5k miles now its really opened up, when pushing above 4k rev it sounds absolutely epic and I no longer miss the 981.....
The engine is a real peach, a huge step up from the 3.4 unit.
This is great to hear, very reassuring! I noticed a significant step up in power when getting out of my 3.4 into the 4.0 and way more low down torque. Can it just arrive now!!! The 981 was certainly louder going slowly at low revs, more of an event and race-car like.

I'd say for the £67K it was a hell of a deal spec wise...i was surprised the bidding didn't go higher originally.
Presumably the warranty would have transferred over to the new buyer anyway? if so, then i can't see any rationale of it now being at £81K other than it was woefully undersold in the first place and maybe 80'ish is fair. The colour will command a premium. Either way, the seller must be a bit peeved off. Crazy times.
I just caught up on this thread a bit, clicked that link and they still have it for sale, months later. Reduced from £81k to £75k so still some margin in there

So an OPC purchased it from the seller via CC? Seems a strange way to do things but these are strange times. On that spec £81k is overs isn't? https://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-details/202108045...

I went to see that actual car yesterday so I could see Python Green in the metal, because I'm speccing it on my GT4 and I wanted to be double-sure before finalising spec. It's worth noting that Brooklands is not like usual OPC's, it's a service centre on an industrial estate where they only sell used/classic, so they have total freedom to buy stock they see margin in and primarily from markets such as private/auto-trader etc.julian987R said:

Hi all. Following a trip to my local OPC last weekend I have specced up a GTS 4.0. I’m just about ready to take the plunge and place a deposit, however the one thing that is holding me back is the noise.
For me, sound is the biggest contributor to sense of occasion, which I find more important than outright performance. The dealer also had a 981 GTS which sounded noticeable louder on startup, and more characterful during normal driving.
My question is, can the 781 sound like the 981 with modification? Is it just the newer filters or more than that?

I am asking as I am driving 2016 MY 718 Boxster 2.0L which sounds great, but the 718 4.0L sounds so much better.
The sound of flat-6-boxer is so much more attractive than the flat-4, but I guess it is a personal preference.
Also, I am told that the 2016 was the last anti-social exhaust system, before the emission and sound volume was progressively reduced.

It was a 3.4 GTS that the dealer had in at the same time. It was noticeably louder than the 4.0. I would go down the route of removing the particulate filters, however I believe this would lead to an MOT fail. Filmed on an iPhone. The 981 does sound better outside the car for sure. For me, sound is the biggest contributor to sense of occasion, which I find more important than outright performance. It was more lethargic at high revs though. It never gained the vigour one might have hopes it might.
Also I found it had a
Some annoying throttle mapping characteristics.

I agree with others about the general better performance of the 4.0
It still sounds good outside, but the induction sound in the cabin is more the classic Porsche sound of old.
It also gets pretty loud at the top end, which matches nicely with the energetic charge to the red line.
The throttle also feels altogether more natural.

Good morning,
Gentian blue PDK - Deposit paid in early July, PEC in Oct, locked in Nov and car was sat at Emden 15th Dec 21, which was ahead of schedule by about a week.
Despite asking PCS and dealer no-one could tell me how to actually track the build, any details have been gleaned via email and screen shots from the OPC.
Current unconfirmed status (down to me actually watching vehicle carrier shipping movements from Emden to Sheerness) - I think my car is due into sheerness today at 1200.

Well I was told yesterday that my car has definitely not been allocated for Q1 2022 and the absolute earliest I could get mine is in April, they didn't get any Boxster GTS allocations for Q1 2022 at all but did get slots for 3 Caymans.
I am No.2 of 10 GTS orders.
I was also told that they would honour the price that my car was ordered at unless it drops into the next model year, which apparently changes in June/July time, so lots of conflicting info out there about the price rises.

Definitely too much with then yellow callipers too. I’ll probably just play it safe with satin black wheels…Yellow + Aurum doesn’t have enough contrast. Alt, you could paint the wheels body colour, but that would get dirty and hard to keep clean.
