The new 718 Gt4/Spyder are here!
Discussion
Sorry, answers no doubt here already, but tough to find stuff in 220 pages:
Having mission creep towards a Spyder after starting looking at GTS. It’s the humps...
On the Spyder, have the folding buckets disappeared as option?
See some on here, but only sports or 918 seats on config. Prob have to go sports for comfort, but struggling with that!
Also, interior generally - is it possible to get any of the GTS colours (eg natural leather) on Spyder, or is it limited to config; black with expensive stitching or the red “classic”
Thanks

Yes, they're no longer available in any car from Porsche.See some on here, but only sports or 918 seats on config. Prob have to go sports for comfort, but struggling with that!

Limited to the configurator (unless you go CXX for ££££££ if available).footsoldier said:

I have the folding buckets in mine, and they are lovely. I always got on fine with the full buckets too, but no seat heating put me off this time.

Re folding buckets it’s maddening, I’m absolutely gutted. I am in a similar but different boat to you. I’ve got a 718 Spyder with the heated buckets, but I really fancy a PDK Spyder so I’ve got one specified with my OPC, deposit in, but looking at January delivery, (which is another issue with Brexit etc). So still time to change my mind.Having mission creep towards a Spyder after starting looking at GTS. It’s the humps...

My current car I specified with a bit of occasional track use in mind, however after 2 track days I am 100% that I will never track it again and so as the only heated option chairs it is!
I am wavering though as I can’t get my head round a GT product without buckets.
First world problems and all that.
I've just ordered one this afternoon..., don't have a delivery date yet, pending 2020 allocations being released.
Will have to go with 918 seats, not too bothered about heating, as unlikely to be using much in winter.
Price certainly goes up when you go near PCCBs and buckets!
Means I'll have to plough through all 222 pages now...

they had a free slot for a 718 Spdyer to be able to order one today ?Will have to go with 918 seats, not too bothered about heating, as unlikely to be using much in winter.

718 Spyder and GT4 are not limited. I had a deposit on a Spyder but had to cancel it a couple of weeks ago due to another rather special car becoming available to me. When I called and spoke to the dealer principle to get the refund sorted, I said I feel silly cancelling an order for such a hard to get car and he assured me that if I change my mind I can reinstate the order and that he’s been told that Porsche will make all the cars that are ordered.
I suspect they’re still playing the hard to get banter in order to maintain the feeling of exclusivity, but I was assured that they intend to make and sell as many cars as people want to buy.

Seems like the worm has turned, at least for these entry level cars.
To be honest it’s the most sensible business thing for Porsche to do.... these are gateway cars.. pulls you in, then you want to buy the next one up the ladder...and are willing to pay proportionately more, and so on, and so on... so makes sense to make the barrier to entry as low and as as easily as possible, and take a bucket load of profit at every price point along the way.

FWIW I had a 718 Spyder with folding, heated buckets and I swear they sat higher than in my old 981 Spyder. Long story, but I now have a 718 Spyder with 918 buckets and I much prefer them - enjoy the car. (PS you’ll need to get the sound “mended” - I’ve got a JCR silenced titanium race pipe on mine - makes it sound as it should have sounded OEM)

Thanks... and yes, the pipes seem mandatory. (PS you’ll need to get the sound “mended” - I’ve got a JCR silenced titanium race pipe on mine - makes it sound as it should have sounded OEM)
I’ve also started looking at options for shortened gear ratios, maybe trash the warranty before it arrives!

To be honest, I always thought it sounded pretty good! Maybe it just needs running in properly? I had several people remark on how good it sounded at a recent trackday...
I thought it sounded pretty good myself, really, the only thing I’ll be doing is removing the connection to the exhaust valve so the flaps stay open all the time. TDT said:

The little asterisk that said “limited availability” on the site next to the GT4 and Spyder models vanished a while ago... Edited by TDT on Monday 9th November 23:48

Lets hope your DP is not merely repeating the oft quoted words of Andreas P who has been wrong before on GT cars and the area of marketing in which he doesn't specialise.I suspect they’re still playing the hard to get banter in order to maintain the feeling of exclusivity, but I was assured that they intend to make and sell as many cars as people want to buy.
Interesting though and it will be quite telling how long Porsche actually continue production into next year with the current economic backdrop and headwinds affecting the car industry Brexit uncertainties etc but despite many claiming these cars will be 'unlimited' I and others remain broadly unconvinced especially for the forthcoming last runs of PDK cars.
Would be very surprised if the total number of UK cars exceeds 981 GT4 /Spyder tbh.

Some people are saying 2021 will be the last year of production for the current 718 models. Would make a PDK Spyder a rare car indeed.
