Thanks for posting.Interesting what is said about the manual and PDK gear ratios appearing to be the same.

With only a handful of mph difference between the gears of Spanish vs PDK gearboxes they essentially are the same - we knew this already...
The benefit will be the traditional PDK advantages of: shift speeds...
no break in power, due to having to disengage clutch with foot
ability to change gear mid corner, at full chat without unsettling the car.
Trade off is engagement.

New configurator is up and running.. my current planned spec looks ace!
Although having just seen this it’s definitely leaning me towards finding a way to make man maths work for a pts build.
Is it actually a lot harder to get a pts slot? Or just a matter of waiting a little longer once they’ve offered you a build?

I think the fact, it’s not a configurator option, would suggest PTS build slots are very limited on the 718 range in the UK. I was advised that for Q1 2021 there were only 2 PTS 718 builds slots allocated to the UK, mine being one of them.

Thanks for posting, this is a pretty favourable review with some surprising performance figures. I am leaning toward PDK so this reinforces my decision.mondie said:

The 0-62 improvement is down to launch control, once rolling the cars are pretty similar. Porsche always underestimate performance stats, the manual car is also quicker than it is on paper.I wouldn't choose PDK if you think it'll be substantially faster everywhere, all the time

Agree, I understand the differences the performance is derived. I have had manuals for decades and own a performance manual car now so don't buy into the higher engagement argument, it's just a different type of driving. I think I would prefer this car with PDK because I have enjoyed past cars with DSG boxes, and PDK is reputed to be the king of them.I wouldn't choose PDK if you think it'll be substantially faster everywhere, all the time

I just don’t get the anti PDK sentiment on forums either, I’ve had manual, DCT and PDK and they’re all good in their own ways as you say. Personally I’m starting to prefer the auto function particularly as the traffic is getting worse and worse seemingly everywhere I go!
My GT4 was manual but I bet the PDK is epic

Just a question, does anyone know if its as easy to get an allocation for a GT4 now as I'm looking to order one but was offered one end of last year but wasn't the right timing for me at that point. Has anyone had any problems getting allocations recently?
I don’t think the re call has helped. I pulled out of my build slot, wanted the car now.mondie said:

On a little side note, I see that Porsche are now offering the PDK as standard transmission with a manual tick box as a no cost option. Can't remember where/which model I saw this for but what does this mean for manuals going forward? Are Porsche beginning to push the PDKs more? Obviously it's already been costed into the purchase price whereas right now on GT4/Spyder we are able to pay extra for PDK if that's what the customer wants.
