The issue as per what I can understand from the medical stuff is that your harnesses hold your body in place to a far greater degree than your helmeted head when there is a very large deceleration. That differential is the problem.
Airbags help and would offer more protection than not being there at all I'd guess but they are designed to work with seatbelts which will allow for much more movement. So the benefit of hans still is applicable even if say less critical than in a race car without airbags.
Exactly... in fewer words, haha.Airbags help and would offer more protection than not being there at all I'd guess but they are designed to work with seatbelts which will allow for much more movement. I don't disagree at all with the logic, I just wonder why we don't see more disclaimers about it, or hear more stories about people being injured wearing a harness without HANS. If the risk was so large shouldn't Schroth/Porsche have a duty to inform people of it?
But remember they don't only fit a harness do they? The 3 point normal sear belt is always fitted and for road use.Yes, but they are fitting an alternative that has the potential to cause injury. Perhaps the litigious nature of the US is why it's not available as an option there.
I know this is very anecdotal, but I see a lot of people with the 6 points, using them for track days, and not a lot of people using HANS. Mind you, I've not seen anyone have a bad crash fortunately. I'm not advocating for or against here either, I'm quite on the fence about it.

I was referring to bimbling around on track, not out of the car. It's a track day not a race...
It not racing, but I guess like everything in life... Levels....For me (like with track day insurance), something like this is protection against others as much as anything (or component failure, of course).

It's like anything really, people either take risks or don't know of the dangers. However, people are beginning to understand better the dangers of wearing a harness without a HANS etc., in the same way that people tend to be more cognisant of not drivng a car with a full cage without a helmet these days. I have driven the GT4 on track while wearing a harness but not a HANS/Simpson but I took a calculated risk - I wouldn't do that regularly, though.I know this is very anecdotal, but I see a lot of people with the 6 points, using them for track days, and not a lot of people using HANS. If you buy a harness a/m, I suspect that there will be documentation advising of the use of head & neck safety device, and would probably waive liability (of the manufacturer) if one did not and had an accident that caused damage. If it is a manufacturer install item, I am not sure if they have to advise or not, but it may be very hard to prove that they didn't ...

So you did get your car before I got mine then...
I have no idea about PTS colours but that looks very nice indeed.
Still a week to wait for full PPF, super excited.I have no idea about PTS colours but that looks very nice indeed.
I will be looking at detailers for a PPF of some sort when the car arrives. Perhaps you would be kind enough to share the details of your PPF company after the job has been done if you are happy with it.

If going for the sports seats then get this option...http://www.porsche-code.com/PNRKRPU9

Sports seat Plus backrests in leather with decorative stitching in contrasting colour
..., as it really makes them look completed in leather and is less garish on the sides with the airbag cover.

Congratulations, that's great to hear, July is only around the corner. It's good to know cars are still coming through, I had been wondering if factory builds had stopped which would make it quite difficult for me to get to number one on the waiting list http://www.porsche-code.com/PNRKRPU9

Here's my revised spec now that Shark Blue is available.

Input/opinions very much welcome. No sign of a build slot yet but i'm popping into the OPC at the end of May for an update.
One thing that's niggling me for some reason is having just seen these pics of a 718 spyder in Voodoo Blue... it feels like it's missing something, possibly due to the lack of metallic. But then the Black cars look great without metallic so i'm struggling to put my finger on it.

Voodoo Blue isn't metallic so your not missing anything other than about £4000 extra on the invoice for PTS
