My Manual (p.15) states the running in period to be 1865 miles. After that it stipulates no restrictions.
Some mechanical sympathy/good practice, such as "don't labour an engine", " warm it up before working the engine hard" etc still apply, but no mention of gradually increasing the revs after the 1865 miles. That in itself seems like a highly conservative figure to me, but may be to allow for those owners who do lots of motorway miles which aren't exactly great for running in.
Mine has now done 2100 miles on day 30 of ownership, 300 of those on motorways.
200 ml of oil brought it back to the full indication.
Total measured mpg 30.33 which surprisingly is above the car's Trip Total of 29.1mpg
I consider it run in, and have used all the revs and "horror of all horrors" done a couple of launches. The later are fantastic, at about 40 mph it gets hooked up in 2nd and really starts to accelerate hard.
Thanks for that, I remember having read "gradually increasing" on another forum thread. Mine only lost 1 qtr on the guage after the 1,800 miles, so I guess about the same. Some mechanical sympathy/good practice, such as "don't labour an engine", " warm it up before working the engine hard" etc still apply, but no mention of gradually increasing the revs after the 1865 miles. Collected mine Friday, with popular Gentian Blue/Platinum wheel combo. First impressions are a fantastic car. Little frustrating not to be able to use all the rev range yet. Weirdly seems to have a more pliant ride than our old 718S, no logic for that. Love the GTS interior. Burmeister stereo is completely OTT. Despite the final cost I think this maybe the perfect all round sports car.

They are remarkably compliant on our less than perfect roads. To such an extent that I wouldn't mind if the Sport PASM setting was a little firmer? Although when you push on a bit you can feel it start to stiffen up from its initial point, fulfilling the GT car brief perfectly.
It took a while until I realised mine had been set to Comfort Tyre pressures, despite showing 2.4 BAR on the MFD. Once corrected and reset it makes a small but noticeable improvement.
Not sure I should post this here But I've had a couple of times when knowing what can be achieved has meant the difference between walking or driving (central Spain on a Sunday/ no fuel available etc).
From a cold start, PDK in Normal, Auto S/S Off (no cylinder deactivation), UK motorways @ 75 mph with 30 miles of 50 average speed zones, fairly heavily loaded and no strong tailwind or other assists. My car is also slightly conservative with the indicated MPG.

Burmester is excellent as well. I love it in mine

Does anyone else find the air conditioning a little disappointing? Was 20 deg C and sunny yesterday but was only ok temp in the car. The left two vents blew out much colder air than the right two despite the temps being synced
No, quite the opposite for me. The dual climate control works too well for me. I have to turn it off and then switch it back on when it gets a little warmer. Only had one issue where the air conditioning wasn’t working and this has only happened once.

I wasn't overly impressed, but it's not been particularly hot and once it had reached the desired temp I wasn't aware of it struggling. So undecided currently.I should have a look in the settings. All my previous VW/Audi cars have had a setting which allows you to choose how aggressively the A/C will chase the target temperature.

Do you have the standard system or the auto climate. It was very warm here in Sunday and mine kept the temperature spot on.

I live in Dubai - no issues from me. With the leather seats and no window tints it can get a little warm when its 50+ degrees outside, but for the most part I find the cooling to be excellent. I wonder though if we get uprated cooling for GCC spec cars. Ken986 said:
That looks absolutely brilliant! Gentian Blue was my second choice, but still with silver wheels for me (so I can remember which black spare set goes on the GT4, and which black winter set goes on the road car... ). I have slight regrets that flat White was the best available first choice, but I'm guessing I'll get over them pretty quick once I'm running the car in.Thanks for all the kind posts re spec of my one. Will be interesting to see just how long before an actual car materialises.

Mine does exactly the same. Really frustrating in the good weather.Ken986 said:
I’m really pleased with it , such a direct and connected drive - love it .
Initially thought about changing wheels to silver but I’m happy keeping them as is .
Not bad for stop start commute.
Ooh Ken, did you go for the Carmine GTS interior pack? I had a mad few days where I was thinking Carmine car, black wheels and Carmine GTS pack. I went for the Crayon GTS pack when the spec. lock came upon me rather faster than expected. I'm guessing both look better in real life than the configurator renders. Would love to see more interior pics!Initially thought about changing wheels to silver but I’m happy keeping them as is .
