987 Cayman - Tell me to man up or get out ....
Discussion
Apologies for being a bit late to this thread but I'm always amazed when Caymans get slated by owners (it's usually the opposite).
I must be easy pleased because out of all my previous cars my old Cayman was my favourite road car, straight away with no time required to grow to like it. So much so I'm on the look out for another (Gen 2 987 if anyone's selling )
I do hope it grows on you, on the limit they are superb in my opinion.
Dunc.

Came unstuck earlier this year with a cheap 3.2S Boxster.
It seemed fine on the test drive but a month later the gearbox fell out with 2nd gear which cost £1400 to repair and obviously once out the clutch was done too. 2 weeks later it was loosing coolant, once drained out appeared a load of red sludge which was the remnants of a few bottles of rad weld. New front to rear water pipes and radiator another £800.
Front bumper didn't really fit 100% around the n/s headlamp but...car was cheap and I accepted that. Once the bumper was removed though it was 1 bumper made from 2 with the n/s corner fibreglassed on from another, no doubt with o/s damage.
I grew to hate it and sold it on.
Just bought a gen2 3.4S Cayman and it's a beauty. Full Porsche history, sports chrono, bose and extended leather. New water pipes, clutch, brand new Carrera 19'' wheels with new tyres, stainless steel sports exhaust, new air con condensers, new discs and pads front and rear and factory refurbished red calipers and major service just done.
Not cheap but lesson learned with the Boxster..

Great job 2Btoo on doing the coolant pipes!
Mines in the garage at the moment undergoing some work, together with just having paid road tax puts the idea of getting something a little cheaper to run in my head like a FK2. But then I'll jump back into the 987, push it to 7k wiping all those thoughts out of my head.
