A couple of weeks ago I followed a German reg GT4 from Grimaud ,via La Garde Freinet, to the A8, - sinuous, twisty route up through the hills north of Saint Tropez.

Colour was Carmine Red with platinum grey wheels and yellow pccb callipers. I absolutely fell in love with the car and colour combo. Hugged the road like it was on rails and a glorious noise with every manual gear change and overtake. Stunning!
Sounds like driving nirvana smile

I guess you could call it a more classy shade of red but the GT3 isn't exactly a classy motor!

It also varies according to lighting...looks vibrant in the advert for the one that's just gone up for sale at JZM (great price BTW) but dull in the ad for the one at TH Boler.

That goes for most Porsche colours - they can look great in some light and pictures, but very plain in others.

Do like Carmine though - nice balance between being bright yet subtle, and not too common, so quite classy. And, probably an easy colour to maintain.

It is a good price but I think no nav which seems to make a difference

So teetering on the brink of doing near as damn it a straight swop for a 4 k miles GT4 against my 14K miles 991.1 GTS coupe. Both are well spec'd, although the GT4 is 'comfort pack'. Any views?

Blaza - it really comes down to what spec you want. It's been long discussed in this thread that cars with buckets sell for more, but if comfort is for you as it is for others and the price is right then go for it.

You'll feel short changed. Only my opinion but the 3.8 GTS you already have is a nicer car / better all rounder. GT4 is awesome at £65-70k brand new, but I've always preferred the looks, drive, and feel of a 911. I'd want £20k in my pocket too

I went gt4 to 991gts and back to GT4 because although the 991.1 GTS is a great car, it was just a great everyday car, not a weekend car. The GT4 is far louder and much more go-kart like but is much more of an occasion. The 911 feels a lot bigger and less naughty and less fun ultimately.

If it was everyday I'd have the GTS but if it's for weekends I'd go GT4 every time. if you haven't driven the GT4, I'd suggest doing that before making your decision.

Let us know what you decide smile

Hi there if you let me know how much the GT4 is then I’ll let you kmow what I think - hard to say otherwise as the spread of GT4 prices is wide smile

Hi Boxsey yep it sold in 4 days from advertising so much for all this crap about folding buckets and no PCM not selling! All potential buyers buy what you want and what suits you! 918 style seats are bloody uncomfortable to some as is buckets to others .PCM in the gt4 is dated and going forward it becomes obsolete also some low miles cars may have spent those few miles purely on track ! What's next? nothing at the moment as I have other priorities but after having owned and driven a lot of caysters over 15 years 2 stick with me the 987 spyder and 981 Gt4!
Keep enjoying your CR its a fantastic car!

I use the GTS every day for 25 mile round trip commute (country roads). I have an old 986 Boxster which I use in the summer for same purpose and tbh, it's more fun to drive. But in the winter and on long trips the GTS is peerless. But I miss the fun of the Boxster... What is the GT4 like on longer trips?

Well the car in question is with Swindon OPC - dark blue, comfort spec. Very nice looking car, no doubt about it and at lower end of prices (£82,850). But...they want me to spend £2500 on front end respray, spoiler lip and wheel refurb on my GTS, and then do a straight swop (sorry, they've offered to retrofit cruise on GT4!). I feel it's not a good deal (and I know one when I see one) so will almost certainly pass. Only reason for doing it would be if GT4 was so awesome it would blow me away. But I do love my GTS..!

Yes, it is a weird spread. This is £82,850, dark blue comfort spec. Lower end probably because no buckets, etc. As in previous post, they're offering me straight swop AFTER I've spent £2500 making my GTS perfect. I'm shying away right now...

It doesn't sound awful - gen 1 GTS's are up at about £k89 with 10-12,000 miles (not sure how many miles yours has?) - they would have at least £k 8 in that - someone will probably get one for £k 2 ish less than ticket: So let's say your car is worth £k79 once painted to them.

I guess this is the dilemma of the "itch" whatever happens anyone is losing about £k10 at this level whenever you do a swap - In this instance it feels like less, as you are not having to put much in - but you are ending up with a car that's ticket price is much less to start with - I'd definitely try and drive a GT4 before doing anything - you may not like it - I haven't driven a 991.1 GTS but I have had a GT4 and I imagine they feel very different.

Good luck with your quest smile

Chalk and cheese. My 991.1 C2S was a comfy all days all weathers GT, the GT4 is a high days and holidays toy/weapon. I wouldn't want to spoil the experience with daily familiarity.

You should have joined us on our drive out this morning. GT4 + 4GTS + 2S!

Personally FWIW I would hang on to the GTS. It really depends on what you're expecting though. GT4 feels special in its own right but the engine of course sounds and feels (and is!) similar.
