Please explain the 3d lettering to me? Am I getting too old to be cool now?
I just thought it makes a change and its something that had just gone out of vogue when I learnt to drive decades and decades ago Edited by diffstar on Monday 13th December 10:50
Also its "4D" lettering not 3
Just got the call that I can have PTS on my Spyder, due for build in May, but I have to lock down spec by Tuesday!! It’s an extra 7k…. What to do… I was originally going with Shark with black int orGT Silver with Sport classic Red black, but now wondering about BRG! With black or even with Sport classic which may just be over the top? Any views welcomed! BTW this will be a keeper.

Hi there
As you are asking for opinions I think Shark is too fashionable it will fall out of favour quickly just like that putty grey colour has IMO.
I would go Carrara White, silver wheels with black interiors and silver stitch, red callipers and belts..... off the top of head.... not as though I have thought about it though :-)
All of this is just my opinion

My advice would be buy what you want, these cars are meant to be fun and exciting. T
To many people think about building it for the next owner rather than themselves.

Interesting thoughts, I partly agree, Crayon I suspect is more of a “fashion” colour as you say. However, Porsche has a long history of painting GT cars in shades of vivid blue, as such I think Shark will fare rather well in the years and indeed decades to come when we are all driving beige EV’s As you are asking for opinions I think Shark is too fashionable it will fall out of favour quickly just like that putty grey colour has IMO.

Cadbury Chocolate wrapper comes to mind ..not keen on that but every one to their own taste ...on a personnel note love GR it will never be out of fashion ,my Spyders have all been GR and my current one and a 981 Box are both GR Red calipers ,deviated stitching in GR .Red dials all add to a stunning cars wheels in silver or satin. gloss black look fine as well esp in the 718 which seems to have more black bits than the 981 model

From what I understand from a DP I was chatting to yesterday almost the entire range is currently affected one way or another by the semi conductor issues and none more so than the GT products.
They really know so little regarding 2022 GT allocation your best move IMO would be "patience" and wait for them to contact you
The DP I spoke to was hoping for 6+ Spyders in 2022 and to date he knows of only 2 allocations for his Centre
I work for another large car brand and this is definitely the case across the industry. When i placed the order in Jan, their best estimate was late Q4, or sometime in Q1 2022 production. I've no doubt that the semiconductor issues will have pushed back production by a fair margin. Assuming no previous deposit holders haven't cancelled then my best guess is a 6-9month delay given the scarcity of Spyder build slots. Sorry, but your first para would imply (to me) that he's stringing you along, but I hope not.
It's just one of the games some OPC's like to play, unfortunately!
Whilst I agree that's how it could feel in isolation, i just can't see any advantage for the OPC here so fingers crossed it's not anything dodgy. It's just one of the games some OPC's like to play, unfortunately!
Apart from not answering this specific question, the sales exec has kept in touch generally, spent a fair amount of time both on phone and in person with me over the past few months etc. He knows i work in the industry so understand all the mechanisms behind the scenes.
My conundrum is wanting some reassurance and certainty when these are the exact things that production planning can't provide at the moment. I guess now all i want is some reassurance that my order remains in place, and some sight of how quickly those above me are getting their cars. The real risk here is that if I annoy them then it'd be easy for them just to cancel the order and say sorry we can't fulfill the request.
It does feel like this OPC isn't getting a fair allocation based on their orders, hence i'm still 5th despite depositing in Jan, which was very disappointing to hear .
However on the flip side of that, they're the only one who was happy to add me to the list as i'm not a previous Porsche customer. So it sounds like other OPCs are only holding a handful of deposits at one time, which gives the impression of a better lead time.
I don't really see any option other than to continue on as i have been, staying in touch with them and hoping that I make my way to the top at some point. Moaning to Porsche GB won't likely yield any actual result or movement here, but does have the risk of annoying the sales manager at the OPC etc.

Bit of an update having popped into the OPC earlier this week. They've confirmed that i'm 5th on their waiting list at the moment (out of 9 or 10 i believe). This now is a conundrum as there's a very real chance they won't get 5 more cars this year (as they've had their Jan-May already).

I don't think it will be happening anytime soon
