The GT4 shifter is sweeter, easy simple mod. I've written up simple instructions to change it over yourself on planet9. Takes 30 mins and no need to remove the PCM, etc. I kinda want a more raw sound and less crackles, a manifold might do that. Catless manifold and tune makes the car alot more raw and wild add 45hp in the midrange.
Have you seen any brake conversion kits? Buckets are a pain as to match they need re-stitching, I've given up lol.
Yeah I'm in the same boat, the car is good as is, maybe just a few more road trips this year. lol.
There aren't any brake conversion kits as far as I know, but there are a few options out there.Have you seen any brake conversion kits? Buckets are a pain as to match they need re-stitching, I've given up lol.

I'm personally not after anything more raw, I don't feel the 981 GTS is that kind of car. If I wanted raw, I'd have bought an Exige or similar!
I agree on the buckets. Foldings/GT2 are the most common but they sit too high in the cabin, making it a real pain to get in and out of the car, and look too old to me. Sports Seats Plus are the seats that sit the lowest in the cabin so I'm going to stick with them. I think they're a great all-rounder and they're light.
We'll end up just leaving them as they are probably. I have 2 long weekend and 1 7 day road trips and a car limits day in the diary so maybe tyres and brakes pads and service this year and a whole lot of driving

I think unless you really feel the need to mod, there's not much worth doing on a 981 GTS. I have the (very!) minor mods of Zunsport grilles and AWE Tuning Foiler air deflectors and it's only the DSC Sport PASM module and bigger brakes that I'm considering. With those done I'd be more than happy ![smile](/inc/images/smile.gif)

Personally, having been along a few long and expensive modding cars journeys, I’ve learnt that once you start you can end up just chasing more and more. A 10 or 15% power increase becomes normal in about an hour so you start planning the next big increase...
It can affect resale so much as well, the GTS is just so nice std. Well, aren’t just about all the Porsche products now?
I still love reading about modified cars so someone please do a thread fitting the latest GT3 engine ??

Me to Rob, spent about 30K on a Honda at one point........after that i learn't my lesson lol. It can affect resale so much as well, the GTS is just so nice std. Well, aren’t just about all the Porsche products now?

I believe Jens Ehresmann is putting in the 4.0 into his GT4 R race car, check out his FB page if you haven't already.

I've mostly seen front-only conversion kits using Porsche parts, but there are lots of non-Porsche options for both front and rear.
If you know of a front and rear Porsche-parts conversion kit, other than to PCCB, I'm all ears.
are you just looking for discs? If not - you can look to get the 981 Spyder setup... that had essentially 991S discs(F350mm/R350mm) and callipers front(F-6pot/R-4pot) - so you'd need front calliper and bigger discs and for the rear just the discs. If you know of a front and rear Porsche-parts conversion kit, other than to PCCB, I'm all ears.
For the road and (looks) I'd reckon your money would be better spent on bigger discs all around... Brembo - J-Hook, Uprated fluid, uprated lines and pads.

On the 981 platform you can fit 991.1 front 6 pot calipers, 340mm discs and pads to S (I have this on mine) and GTS, maybe base. Girodiscs will take you to 350mm discs. If you know of a front and rear Porsche-parts conversion kit, other than to PCCB, I'm all ears.
Rears, Girodiscs will take you to 325mm disc, but not sure rear upgrade is really necessary.

More that 70% of braking is done on the front so really you only need think about the discs.
If it's just for looks - again - you only really need to think about discs?
What are you aiming for? performance or looks... sounds like willy waving to me....![tongue out](/inc/images/tongue.gif)

Not quite, purely for my own benefit

I hope you're planning on doing plenty of track days, as in my opinion it's the only area the GT4 is a better car and therefore makes the extra £25k worth spending. If you are, I still think I'd keep the BGTS and buy a cheap-to-run hot hatch for track days.
Good luck!![smile](/inc/images/smile.gif)

Since getting my GTS back last weekend I've done 600 miles of varied journeys, motorways, A and B roads gentle and a bit quicker. I'm definitely over the GT4 bug and one of the reasons is the 4 is so frantic on a cruise, in 6th it's revving at 3200 to 3500 between 75 and 80. Whilst I understand the motorway isn't where it's supposed to live sometimes you just want to get home the easiest way.
The GTS (PDK) is a gentle 2100 to 2400 rpm at similar speeds so you can talk to the passenger and feel more relaxed. It also helps to explain the fuel consumption of the 4 a bit.
Each to their own of course, the GT4 is a special car without doubt.

I wont be doing loads of track days, maybe 3 a year, a ring trip too. But a GT4 allows me the flexibility to do track days, for me the GTS just doesn't do it on track without making changes.
I my Porsche driving is pure hooning, no daily driving, no long motorway trips (unless going up to Scotland), its just out right blasting so I think the GT4 will hit that spot fine.
Another thing is the GT4 just looks awesome, i find my GTS looks nice but doesn't make think.......damn thats bad a f
k! lol.
There's no wrong or right, I just think I'll give it a try. I did take the GTS out yesterday and really enjoyed it still, its great fun road car. I'll only move to a GT4 when the deal is right, they seem to be selling like hot cakes now.
