After about 7 yrs with Admiral and the annual dance off with premium quotes….I’ve had enough and gone with Churchill.

Admiral wanted a 60% hike for insuring 5 cars, despite up to 15 yrs no claims on them all.

Insured them all with Churchill, with great policies for lower than Admiral’s price last year.

Swapped my GTS to a GT4 yesterday. No other changes and, after the admin fee, the GT4 was £5 cheaper. I almost fell off my chair. But I’m not complaining. Admiral.

My TVR is under a £100, the Duster is circa £250. Was shocked that the bike insurance had gone over £200, my mate pays £70 for the exact same bike parked about 20 miles away.

I'd never pay 4 figures for insurance these days, I resented it when I was 17 and 18.

40 now.
What TVR are you managing to insure for £100 and with which company?

Just got the renewal for my Macan from Aviva. Has gone up to £400 from £300, no change in circumstances. Tried all the comparison sites and a few others and they were all £500 plus.

I managed to get close to Admiral's outrageous renewal using different insurers for the cars but not close enough. I don't buy the chat about hire car costs at all. It's nearly always a bolt on that costs very little to include a replacement car while yours is being assessed/written off. Our neighbour drove into our Alfa last year and paid for the repair himself, parts were readily available. I'm sure in some cases there are issues and shortages but I also suspect that there is also some piss taking going on. Churchill wanted 3k for the RS5 alone. WTaF!?!?

Anyway, if you've managed to get a decent renewal, well done. Hopefully things will settle down for next year. Fingers crossed...

This is what no one seems to talk about. Right now we have rising prices. Once the rising prices stop rising then that does not mean they go down. It means they remain level. So if we get back to 2% then we will not see prices going down. We will just see them going up less.

You raise a very fair point. But they are taking the piss. I just ran a quote through a comparison site with my parents address. The cheapest quote was £300 less than Admiral's for the Porsche which included the cost of a hire car. Cost of parts and hire cars etc. is an excuse. I'm sure some have lost out but some, such as Admiral, have not. Inflation is not running at 50plus percent.

Back to your very fair point, You're probably right, sadly.

Related to this topic, but I'm taking my GT4 on track for the first time in August, and I'm looking for some decent day/event cover.

Admiral (my current provider) don't do track cover and I don't do enough track days to warrant moving to a combined road and track policy, so I'm just after recommendations for the best 'one day' or 'event' cover?

Thanks in advance.

Try these folks. Not cheap though, usually around 1% of the value of the car. So circa £800-£900.

I have used Moris a lot over the years, most recently at the 'ring in the 991 and half a dozen times with my Spyder last year. Never had to claim thankfully but they're easy and pleasant to deal with and Justin is a gent
