Completely disagree. I usually do at least 1 Euro driving tour each year, and having once ventured south in a Tamora with no A/C, I can certainly state that I will never buy any soft top that doesn't have A/C. When it gets to +30, you fry with the roof down or bake with the roof up. Currently I’m in Venice with mine, yesterday it’s was 33 degrees, we were roof down on the A4 when we hit typical Italian traffic. Sat still on the autostrada for 20 minutes. I jumped out put the roof and put the AC on full...... phew...... :-)

And it's real. All of our cars clear better with the AC on, including our 981CS.When the AC on 964 targa worked (rarely), it was the only way of clearing the screen in the rain. As others have said, there are times when you need AC in a convertible, particularly in very temps, when it's too hot to comfortably have the roof off.

because if you have a clean windscreen and put the blowers on your screen does not mist up !most people have dirty screens and they mist up much worst.
I have ran Elises and my Spyder for 10+ years don't have issues with mist on screens ! esp on car with that much air flow unlike a coupes.
makes you wonder how people drive cars with no AC in the past ;-) they must have all pulled over and not used their cars ...

People coped with horses in the past.
AC dries the air in a car so reduces condensation. I think we can all attest to the effectiveness of having AC versus not having it. Be it on a hot day, or a cold damp or wet day.

We all have different views. Sunny day, put a cap on. But it’s not the same. AC is very effective at keeping the occupants cool, and keeping condensation off the glass. Whether one values that or not is up to the individual. I do. BillyB said:

Thanks Ed for the heads up.Mine was the private one. It sold pretty much within 24 hours of advertising to Craig who was the first person to contact me. I decided not to put an email link on the advert as was sick of replying to messages from people with no intention of buying when selling previous cars.
I thought anyone serious about the car would pick up the phone and that was the case.
BillyB, I tried replying to you twice so not sure what happened there. The car was spotless and probably sold too cheap but thought I had to price it sufficiently cheaper than dealers like 911v as they have been taking a while to shift theirs and Tom is probably the best at selling these.
Anyway as ever it shows a good car at the right price can sell private. Hope Craig enjoys the car, if the sun ever comes out again!!

Sorry, but if you going to make a forceful point, please make sure you know what you are talking about. Misted up windows has very little to do with dirt, but is directly related to temperature and relative humidity. As a previous contributor stated, A/C removes moisture from the air, thereby clearing it more quickly.(I am a trade professional) :-)
On the air con debate I suppose it depends on the use.
Ive now had 2 spyders. The first had air con, one ive just sold didn't.
Never used the air con in the first and never felt I missed out on the second.
If you are going to use it a lot and get stuck in traffic I can see the need but not for when and how I used mine.
For the record my screen never misted up either.
On a 981 spyder I would have air con as its a more luxury model, and more of a resale issue, but not bothered either way on a 987.
