Agree. What's the very low mileage adding to the price £5k?

The e bay car steel braked car is a 2016 whereas the Redline pccb car is 2015. Mileage similar on both.

Specs hugely different ones comfort weird spec but the Redline is top spec with even pccbs and clubsport if you feel that is required on a GT4.

Yellow is never the best seller on both GT4 or GT3.

launch colours always sell the best, the GT4 looks the bomb in yellow, the GT3 don't sell in yellow, strange.

Agree the GT4 looks good in yellow but they are generally a hard sell in RY.

That Redline car would be a great buy for someone after a CS with ceramics at £80k max imo.

my latest car has Recaro Pole's in them, they are like a bespoke glove, even my GF things they are the best seat to date,

Although I did like the 996 GT3 seats, but todays size people would not fit those now, bit like the CGT seats, both are very tight but nice if you fit.

quote
"Something that you don't mention is that the shape of the 918 seats is broader and not as shaped as the folding seats at the top"

as you hold the wheel you are rounded off in the shoulders any way, I am wide of shoulder, but rattle about in the 918 and fit great in the GT2 Folding style and the Recaro Poles. (and a full race seat, and still less upright than a 918 !! )

I am race spec size :-) as I stated if you are a bigger guy and taller than 6FT best to spec 918 but FFS don't sit on the side bolsters when getting in/out ;-)]
The 996 Aliens are based on the Recaro Poles with just a head change. So if you can fit in Poles, youll fit in the Aliens.

If you was properly wide of shoulder, youd find that the Poles would also round your shoulders hth

Agreed but then again OPC Colchester just sold one with similar spec for £81k albeit average GT4 miles, so at £80k for a non OPC car that would be somewhat of a bargain.

People will always tend to pay more for OPC cars especially GTs.

I'd agree as the CS full spec yellow car with MS in Lincoln @£79k looks good. That said its been around for a while.

As of yesterday only 7 cars on OPC Locator. They're still selling.

anyone know this car: https://finder.porsche.com/gb/en_GB/Cayman-GT4-795...

Initially I was after bucket seats, but after sitting in them soon realised they do not support my frame.

The low mileage and one owner background of this car is what attracts me, anything I should otherwise consider?

Thnx

Nice mileage and 1 owner late 15 65 plate car.

Spec is fair biggest issue in terms of value is lack of buckets and no extended leather with placcy dash and door tops. Absence of sport chrono and climate are other minor issues.

Strange decision to spec carbon and light upgrade but no leather.

There are a limited number of GT4s around with the older p3 folding buckets which suit some better than the newer p11 Spyder buckets. Maybe try these seats as they are less vertical and have more width at the shoulders than the fixed.

Irrespective of the cars mileage and 1 owner it does look expensive atm bearing in mind the spec.

I've seen that car in the showroom and it's mint. Outside of buckets the 18 way seats are THE best seats comfort and adjustable option Porsche produce. I always thought the leather dash as a 'must have' but having seen that car and the interior it actually doesn't phase me as it doesn't look bad at all.

In case this is useful to anyone? Since you guys are talking seats, I just posted this on the Spyder forum:

So went to my OPC and actually spent time testing 18 ways, folding buckets & 918 buckets. To be honest it depends on what matters most to you.

They all have strengths and weaknesses.
The 918 buckets look the best. But I am 6 feet tall and 11 stone 7, (40-inch chest) - so find my torso slops around a 'little' from side to side when pressing on. Also, the seat pan is slightly too short to support the back of my legs. And the seating position is very upright - which doesn't bother me, but will bother some people. Also, when set to their lowest position, the 918s go nice and low. The 918s are not heated - but that is a detail.

The folding buckets are a little bit more comfortable and less upright, and can be heated - BUT you can't lower them - and that (for me) is a big downside. Usefully, they can be folded if you need rear access - good in a GT3 w/o cage, but irrelevant in a Spyder. (Might be a good option if you are not too tall.)

18-ways: Many on this forum will give them a 'so so' press - but set up properly they are a damn good seat. They actually go slightly lower than even the 918s - which for me is a preference. I can get the back-rest in the perfect spot for the mood I am in (i.e. cruising or pressing on.) The seat pan can be extended to suit longer or shorter-legged people. Then when you crank the torso bolsters tight - I didn't slop side to side at all.
The leg bolsters are not as snug as the buckets - but not a million miles off when fully tightened. Finally, they can be folded and can be heated if it matters.

Eventually, I went with the 18-ways, because they were just more versatile.
You may find it could limit resale - but I bought the car for ME - not the next owner.

out dated thread as no one knew what the downsides of the 918 were then ! me inc.

now you could say 30 % people like each seat so it's a moot subject, all we can do is offer the plus and negatives on each and then people choose.

many on PH choose resale and looks, and admit it, so its very hard to say what is the right seat.

Sensible man. The 18 way are of course the most versatile for most people. But the forums seem to think you have to have buckets. Not in the real world you don't.

I have had 918 style buckets and Sport Plus (or 18 ways).

I am 6" 1" average build.

I find the 918 bucket blooming marvelous in just about every way and look the nuts. They are not quite as comfy as sport plus seats on longer runs but not by a lot.

But............... And this for me is a big but. Getting in and out of them is a pain in the ass. Especially when you in a car park and can't open door fully. So much so I sadly don't think I would get them again.

all 4 of my cars have buckets seats.

I hate normal seats, they feel like you have no connection to the car and ofcourse buckets are softer to sit on FACT.

the issue why many people hate buckets today is the 918 style are st !
