So after 10 years of thinking the seat was too high in the Spyder (Bucket seats) I solved it today with the very technical solution of taking out the seat pad! I was amazed how thick it is. Makes a huge difference and exactly what I wanted. I’ve replaced with a thin car cushion from Halfords. It’s brilliant. Sit perfectly in the car, much lower. Feel a lot more of the road as well.
Genius! Can I ask which one? Have always felt the same. Ripped it out once as an experiment and the height was much better, but sitting on an uncushioned seat was clearly not an option for more than a few hundred metres...!

Hi, the one I got from Halfords (google Halfords Padded Car Seat Cover it's the £29.99 one) was a full seat cushion (back and bottom) so I cut the bottom off and used that. However, that was a bit rough so my mother-in-law has since made me a bespoke cushion in Alacantara which mirrors the shape of the original seat cushion (just much thinner). Bought the foam and material on Amazon smile

In the new year I am going to be looking into making thinner seat pads for the sports seats. The aim will be to retain a level of comfort and look as standard as possible trimmed in the alcantara. It may require a new bottom lumber pad also to make it look standard. Will see how it goes, trial them and see if there is a market for small batch production.

Check with your local OPC (or a number of them). I get all my folding buckets done with extra side padding for the lower back. My OPC (on the continent) "ships" the car to their trusted specialist and it's done to perfection. It looks completely OEM

No, it's £62K Ralph. And yes, it is a owned by a PH'er. It's absolutely stunning and doubtful you'd find another like it.
For a 987 Spyder connoisseur, it's the holy grail. AND it's completely unmodified (apart from the lightweight battery)

When "still running the original tyres from the factory" 10 years later is mentioned as a positive, you know what sort of buyer it is appealing to.

(I should add that in all other ways it does look really, really lovely)

Very nice, but blimey 62k is a leap over recent prices for other nice spec and low miles.

No doubt it is most likely a very nice car but IMHO that is about £15-18k overpriced!
Unicorn spec is only for someone looking for that spec. It's still a manual 987 spyder with spyder wheels and buckets all said and done

It's my unicorn spec, the asking price is what it is-you just need to square it up with what you're willing to pay.

What I would say is I wish the owner all the very best with his health issues.

Wish he'd put fresh rubber on it at least!

That's not collectible... that's dangerous...

At 15k those rears must be at the limit along with decaying side walls, your pride and joy why would you skimp even if only part worn?
What else is 10 years old that needs replacing?
Putting a fresh set of Michelin tyres on wouldn't detract from the "original spec." They came with PS2s

Porsche won’t extend the warranty if tyres are more than 6 years old.... so it’s definitely not had an extended warranty...

Stunningly unique car and perfect for a collection. The owner is one of the most knowledgeable and friendly posters on P'heads and i wish him and his family the best of luck in the future.
