Radio, PCM and to a lesser extent AC not necessary but a harder sell when most other cars have them I think. It’s the fixed buckets that have the electric height adjustment. And I think red suits the car - but possibly I’m not impartial smile
Lovely smile
Love it !

Needs a heater, A/C not so much in this country….

Bought this GT Silver Spyder in April. Was registered as MD65BPO. Just wondering if anyone on here knows the previous owner was?

Had the Spyder for two weeks now, have done about 350 miles or so in that time and I absolutely adore the way it drives.

The drive down to Bedford with our S1 Elise for a track day last weekend was great. Early morning start, clear open roads, had a lot of fun getting to know the cars limits. It was a fab day out after all the restrictions of the last year or so..

Having only the (awful) standard fit radio…I bit the bullet and installed a new head unit with Apple CarPlay…it’s brilliant…!

Every app works with ease, the screen is fantastic, maps are fab, DAB is superb…would thoroughly recommend this upgrade to anyone with a 987…

Overall….very, very happy biggrin

It’s as close to an Elise as Porsche will ever make I reckon…can’t believe I’ve not tried one before..

It’s a Pioneer SPH 160 DAB, not expensive at all & linked to a Bluetooth receiver means no need for leads.

Super glad to have found a place in cyberspace where Spyder lovers share stories...

I'm in my 5th month of ownership of my white 2016 Spyder with LWBs, satin platinum wheels and leather interior. Love it!!

Thanks for that. Very reasonably priced. Graphic equaliser too, can't beat equalising your graphics thumbup
Is the phone microphone decent ?

I was about to say the same - sure he adapted some form of navigation into the car as we messaged each other at the time. Which F has he moved on to now?
I think this Spyder looks great in red but arguably a low 60’s car in reality
Sounds like an F430, not sure if it's coupe or spider.
Have to agree, the 981 Spyder looks great in red, and the PCCB's and seats are a bonus (if the car were a keeper, I'd pull the seats and flog 'em, and fit a set of perfectly trimmed Pole Positions in their place) eek

Is the lack of OE sat nav really such a deal breaker with the likes of the excellent Waze available these days ?
Yes that's my old car for sale - loved my period of ownership. Bought off Porsche as you Gents noted iirc January 2020. Really enjoyed it for a year and a half. Had a wonderful road trip over the Alps between lockdowns last August. Put 6k odd miles on it.
I thought it would be a keeper but have always wanted to try an F car. Tentatively approached dealers and very quickly got offered 10% more than I paid for it originally. Thought it was too good an offer to turn down and got an F430 Spider.

In terms of the 981 I did nothing to it apart from a diy oil change just before our euro road trip. The issue of the ceramics lurks I'm not sure how much there is left of the fronts. The lack of stereo was never a problem I found a Bose wireless speaker fits perfectly in the shelf. The lack of aircon was the only issue especially when it rains. Having said that I've actually never drove the car roof up - only when it rained unplanned
It's an epic car I still miss it.

Couple of pics from that trip.

Had a few calls yesterday and it seemed to be pretty clear both ends of the call, roof was on though…

Auf wiedersehen Porsche Boxster 981 Spyder…..

After just over two and a half years yesterday was time to bid farewell to the best Porsche I’ve owned (so far…..)

With a lack of use and insane current used values I decided why not take advantage and who wouldn’t want a decent profit selling a car after 2.5 years!

Have an early deposit on the new Lotus Emira but in the meantime it’s back to window shopping….

Car now for sale at Targa Florio cars so if you’re looking for a very low mileage & high spec (918 buckets, extended leather, carbon trim, BOSE etc) car with excellent ownership history take a look.

Anyone know where I can source a set of interior door pull straps from?

I can find the conversion kits, but not just the straps...

Tell me about it….!
Too many cars, young family, business, Covid lockdown and general lack of time prevented it being used as intended.

Ha likewise to all of the above - except luckily I work all around the country so can use the Spyder as intended!

The soft top is rather 'heath Robinson' to take down/erect inv, and surprised Porsche couldn't come up with something better.

The 986 Speedster humps are a bit more fiddly. You effectively clip on these additional pieces once the roof is down and you need to remember to do the reverse when putting it up.

I think this pic explains the problem. If you want the humps to get close to the roll bar when the roof is down then you need a roof which sits very close to them when it is up. So without adding mechs to move the humps around and adding some extra weight into the mix I think their current solution seems sensible. Of course if you dont like it you can get the vanilla Boxster.

Isn't it summer in the UK?

Shouldn't those of us in the southern hemisphere winter be enjoying lots of UK Spyder pictures?
