Only just start to research 987 Spyder’s having thoughts about buying one. Red would be my top choice.

For those tracking Spyders for sale and sold, historically do cars come up with higher mileage (than the 15-20k miles ones that seem to be about at the moment) and does this tend to reduce the price much ?

£45K/£50K is unfortunately outside my budget but I’d also hope to be doing 3000-5000 miles in it a year as I typically do in my fun car. So a bit concerned all Spyders seem to have such low mileage use.

Got a 968ClubSport that would be getting sold but I’ve done 1100 miles in it in the last 5 weeks enjoying it, driving it for fun on roads.

There used to be more cars with higher miles… everything that’s been coming up recently has been in the under 20k range.

I’ll have one, but right now the prices are toppy, and tbh if I did have one I wouldn’t be going anywhere in it anytime soon so I’m happy for now to keep an eye out.

Where red cars do look good is from the rear, the way the lights disappear looks cool. But it’s a “red Porsche” and unfortunately I’m old enough to remember when that was a bad thing.. like red GTi’s

I assume the low milers are being offloaded into this 'toppy' market.

The rest of the owners are hopefully busy out driving theirs.

Be patient, as the market will come back into your favour this winter IMO.

I considered selling my red 987 Spyder, and Ashgood made a fair offer, with it being towards 30k miles and not the perfect spec. The offer made suggests that demand is strong, but interesting to see them reduce the price of this one (although I wouldn’t have black wheels).

From a financial perspective I probably should have sold, but have nothing else in mind to buy and money in the bank ain’t producing much return. Great car, but finding the opportunity to drive it is rare which creates frustration. The UK market fixation with low mileage is counterproductive for everyone.

May I ask what their offer was and what you are looking for, is it a manual?

Not sure on black, will love or hate, but does anyone know this example? RV10 WKL is the plate!

There's currently three 2016 981 Spyders for sale via UK OPC with a £10k range in price. £75-85k

Makes me think that not even the 'market' knows how to price these things at the minute.

That’s the one that has 9 or 10 previous owners I think…

Yes 9 previous owners not something to be honest that bothers me as it’s the kind of car that can get flipped a lot.

If you guys think it hurts value though please do say.

I went to see this one, nothing wrong with it, everything checked out on an initial viewing, I just preferred the white / black roof / graphics look. I was also a bit worried about being owner No 10….

The guy there (Thomas) is really nice to chat with and they’ve got some lovely metal in the showroom..

The 987 Spyder is a fantastic car that puts a smile on
My face every time I drive it. I am lucky enough to own a white one with low mileage and I’m the 2nd owner. At 11k miles it like a new car and most of those miles were mine and it would be higher if not for lockdown. It’s PDK not manual but for me that’s ideal and I love the responsiveness and having the options of paddle change or just being lazy is great…. Just waiting change of a coolant pipe before a whole range of planned outings in August and September now we’ve been released from lockdown. I keep thinking about selling during lockdown but driving over last couple months has changed my mind. Not sure values are impacted by the current market as the 987 Spyder is an enthusiasts car with a limited pool of buyers. I also went for light weight no Aircon to balance off the PDK weight gain who needs Aircon in a Spyder keep above 35mph and the rain blows over the top. And tbh who wants to drive with the top on

Yeah Thomas I’ve been speaking to and good to hear it seems a good one.

Did you manage to get any money potentially off asking price or did you not discuss money with him?

How long ago did you go see it?

Huge spec which was for sale with Ashgood a year or so ago. It was advertised for a long time and IIRC was badly chipped on the bumper but I think has had a front end re-spray recently.

From what I can gather it was advertised over a year ago for a while by Ashgood and had a few stone chips, they sold it to private individual who had it for around six months and sold it to the company it’s at now, it definetely seems to get flipped a lot and hence 9 previous owners with last owner only having for six months.

Can anyone remember what it was advertised for at Ashgood please?
