Boxster Spyder

So dealer has fitted a new battery, I personally requested a Bosch S4 005 as read online they are a direct fit even though much smaller and save nearly 10kg as the battery weighs about 14kg compared to the stock 20-25kg units.
The bottom plate has pre-drilled holes so the clamp can be moved along making fitment plug and play with no modification required.
The AH and CCA is a little under what Porsche fit, but it is better than the Interstate MT47 battery which many fit state side without issue, having used lithium lightweight batteries in other cars which are rated much lower due to only weighing around 2kg and never giving me issues I don't see any issues using this battery, but if it ever lets me down I shall let you know.
But anyone wanting to save a bit of weight but not willing to drop £500-£1000 on the fancier stuff, I guess this is a cheap option and as the dealer was paying it just made sense to specify the battery I wanted as saves me an expense later on and makes me less inclined to drop £500ish on a 3-4kg item.
If I get any issues I shall let you know.
What battery chargers/conditions do people use on their Porsches, are there any kits available that allow for easier disconnect and connection or anything that can charge via the 12V port? The Ferrari has its own special connector under the dash for its charger/conditioner and the Aston uses one that plugs into the 12V for simplicity so be nice to do something for the Spyder that does not require connecting to battery terminals everytime.

As you say, good spec, shame the owner has the photographic skills of amoeba How dare you not have your own white studio setting with turntable and lighting. :roll eyes:
Hi there
Given the Spyder a good cleaning up and truly love driving it, so engaging and fun at legal speeds, but also so very capable:

If all goes well the car will be sporting yellow seat belts and yellow door pulls to tie in with the ceramics this coming weekend.
Also considered spraying the bucket inserts yellow, but maybe that will be too much and tacky?

Thinking I might buy a 981 Spyder
Didn't enjoy my 997.2 Targa 4S at all sadly. Not what I am after in a Porsche but having test driven a 981 I was super impressed.
I don't care about crap like deviated stitching, leather visors or coloured belts, it is all about how it drives and makes me feel. Use profile will be mostly as a daily with some road trips to Europe and hooning around the UK to circuits for the Caterham racing.
Any cars out there that people can point me in the right direction? Or any driving must haves on these cars?

I love mine. I’d suggest buckets a must have. That’s about it. Didn't enjoy my 997.2 Targa 4S at all sadly. Not what I am after in a Porsche but having test driven a 981 I was super impressed.

Thank you. Yes, I’d agree, buckets ftw.
Right. Off to find one then
I agree buckets are a must have, the benefits are they look stunning from all angles and carbon FTW, they save weight and they are worth a small fortune and a far more desirable option.Right. Off to find one then
Buckets are like Ferrari re-sale red in a Porsche, buckets are a must unless your buying something more touring/comfort orientated which a Spyder is not, its a sports car.
I removed the intake baffle kit yesterday, I left the snorkle in place as it seems silly to remove that as that is ensure the car pulls the air from the vent where the air is colder.
I have put a mesh over the intake vent to prevent anything from entering.
I would say the engine now seems louder, more induction noise, maybe throttle is a touch crisper but could be placebo, it seems no worse off for it however.
I manage to get everything removed and all clips survived, the side vent was proving really difficult at first but going around it I noticed little tabs so peel back the outer layer and then gently push the tabs with a small screw driver whilst gently pulling and it will pop out, once you 2-3 done some wiggles and it all comes off.
Anyway its a free modification, there seems a little extra sound which was my goal, will report back if any issues come from it but the air intake has mesh and the air filter is still present as is the snorkel, my guess is the baffle plate/cover is there to prevent people from throwing stuff into the intake track or maybe as a noise reduction device.
