Perhaps because we pay through the nose for the product and its maintenance, with carefully inbuilt high expectations by the manufacturer?
Still, you've now convinced me to get a Fiesta!!
In 2016 when I was invited by CAR magazine to Rockingham Raceway for a photo shoot heralding the then new 718 a CAR journalist arrived in a Fiesta ST press car and was spouting forth that it was the best car he'd ever driven. He was deadly serious!? I took a pic...Still, you've now convinced me to get a Fiesta!!

As I recall it was only early eco boost engines that had a problem otherwise it’s a pretty solid engine, the engine is even used in a racing series. Correct me if I am wrong!
The 3 cylinder ethos even adopted by Toyota in the GR Yaris
Wet belt engines are a daft idea, as the Ecoboost has proved, the overheating issues have been largely resolved on later engines. The 3 cylinder ethos even adopted by Toyota in the GR Yaris
The 3 cylinder engine is used to reduce emissions and to stop you needing to look at the rev counter to know it is idling.

Thank you for the replies and support, I really appreciate it.
I’m now 400 miles in on the new engine, driving it with varying revs, pushing slightly higher each time - it feels strong and right.
The GTS is a peach of a sports car, just perfect for the road.
Funny how driving them makes everything seem a little bit better! I’m now 400 miles in on the new engine, driving it with varying revs, pushing slightly higher each time - it feels strong and right.

Mine had a squeaky driver's seat that got better if I raised it a bit. But I didn't want it raised. Took a little while to schedule diagnosis, and then cure, but we got there. The car puts a massive grin on my face when I drive it. My issues seem quite 1st World compared to yours, and I have a really accomodating OPC.
Sincerely hoping it all goes in your favour from here on in. Why wouldn't it? Just a superb car to drive!
Liam
Well folks, I think I’m going to get through this bank holiday without having my car recovered- third time lucky!!
The new engine is bedding in nicely, with over 600 miles now on it - it feels strong and right
It’s been lovely driving the car again, it’s a stunning road car - perfect size too, compared to the excellent, but rather large, 992 that I drove.

Not the best start to the ownership of a new car. Unfortunately mistakes and problems can happen at the outset. Glad you can finally begin to properly enjoy your car.The new engine is bedding in nicely, with over 600 miles now on it - it feels strong and right

Wasted energy ... since there appear to have been very few 718 4.0 engine failures time holds the answer ... all will be revealed.
"Porsche has issued a stop-sale on 718 Spyder, Boxster and Cayman models equipped with its adored 4.0-liter flat-6 due to a defective batch of engine connecting rods. Porsche says the defective rods may crack and loosen, which can lead to engine failure and other subsequent calamities."
This was from three years ago and Porsche fessed up.
