Harsh, ok a colander maybe.

I have been on here a while, it has never been any different, I see these forums as a Circus that can be both informative and entertaining, but you have to accept there will always be some Clowns on here telling 'stories', it is part of the show wink

I dare say some on here would have added VAT to that number.

Just checked-out a 981.2 for a friend. Being offered (with CPO) by a Porsche dealer, 30k miles but sounds horrid on tick-over. Sent a sound file to a reputable engine shop, and they confirmed bore scoring. No record of any oil changes over a 2 year/20k mile period, that probably doesn’t help.
Pretty impressive. A model of car that doesn't exist has bore scoring diagnosed without actually looking inside the engine...
Haha...some Indies even struggle to diagnose bore score accurately with the engine right beside them with a bore scope shoved up it...
Absolutely. I watched a recent talk given by Hartech, organised by PCGB, and Baz was saying that bore scoring is often diagnosed when there is none. Some indies see the slightest marks on a liner and jump straight in with an incorrect diagnosis. It’s much, much rarer than the internet would have us believe.

Would agree and disagree. Scoring is misdiagnosed and you need to be careful who you ask to scope an engine, yes. But on certain engine types (eg 3.4-plus M97) it's utterly epidemic and the only rarity is that it's a rare example of an internet scare that's actually true.
