I'm going over my spec again and have made some changes, included the leather interior with alcantara, ditched the alcantara sun visors and light design package, the only thing I'm umming and arring over is the DAB radio; to make way for the ore expensive interior I could do with ditching this, what are your views on this as an option is it a must have or can I ditch it?

Revised spec is:

Sapphire Blue Metallic
Interior Colour
Black (stitching in Platinum Grey) Leather interior
Exterior Rear wing supports in black
Transmission / Chassis 6-speed manual gearbox
Sport Chrono Package incl. Porsche Track Precision App and preparation for laptrigger
Fuel tank 64-litre
Wheels
20-inch GT4 wheels
Interior Automatically dimming mirrors with integrated rain sensor
Full bucket seats
Two-zone automatic climate control
Smoking package
Audio / Comm.
Porsche Communication Management (PCM) including navigation module with universal audio interface
Sound Package Plus
Mobile phone preparation
Digital radio?

Thanks all,

Wow it does seem the the sports Chrono is an option not being ticked by many!

I initially left it out but the dealer made a big point of telling me not to as its desired on any GT car even though as you say it's an expensive clock! He said it would hurt the cars price if I chose to sell it in the future, I also do like the look of the clock!

Debated the carbon interior but it's a rather pricey and I've got to draw the line somewhere otherwise PCCB's and yellow stitching would be next and closely followed by a divorce.....

personally i think you've got it right on the nail.

Of all the new cars I've got one of the things i love most is the DAB radio , the reception and just being able to leave on one station as you travel far and wide. Personally id leave this alone!
That was my thought also, it's one one the best things in my daily driver! But that came free of charge.... It does feel a bit excessive to pay 3k for satnav and a radio when in most other cars it's free but hey hoy we are where we are and I'm just grateful to have a build slot!

Spec is a very personal thing, so what anybody else thinks isn't really going to help you and you will no doubt get 101 different answers.

My personal thoughts on your spec are that its very nice but I would ditch sport-chrono as it adds nothing - its just a very expensive clock. I also havn't spec'd the Dual Air Con as I just don't see the point in the UK and even the argument for climate over std a/c adds no weight with me as Ive never had a problem without it in the past. DAB again offers nothing to me, but I never listen to the radio - always choose my own music from a mem stick.

Then again I've gone for a quite few more nice to carbon/leather trim bits that most people will feel are a complete waste of money too - so there you have it, I've proven my own point.

Oh here's one that's a bit of a no-brainer though - add in the "online services" as its now a no cost option!
Good call, thanks, not sure what it gives me but if it's free......

For a start, I didn't even realise that DAB wasn't included with the PCM pack; quite crazy just how much it costs to have sat nav and DAB in a Porsche when it is generally included in any other car. Add both and you are talking the best part of £3k. Question whether this is good value for money?

Interior leather with silver is a good choice imo for the blue car, but I'd ditch Chrono, it hasn't the same appeal as it once did and is an expensive option just for a nice looking clock!

Personally would go back wheels with the blue paint, but personal preference.

Everything else is similar to mine, also opted for two-zone climate just for the sake of not having to adjust it all the time.

My build is presently £73.5k but I'm still considering removing a few options because they just aren't worth it, even if they are more desirable for the next fella!
I did in fact try to leave nav off but I was told in no uncertain terms that this would be a very silly idea and that although expensive it's not really an option to omit it as it will hurt residuals badly! I'm happy to leave it don't like phones stuck to windscreens anyway smile

If mine was going to be a track weapon then I would have done the same and spec'd CS and PCCB's and lightweight battery!

However mines going to be a jack of all trades for me as I don't have the luxury of keeping it for a track only toy and at least staying cool in the summer and listening to some music was a necessity for me. I hope you do go for that spec though as it will be the hardest of hardcore GT4's.

Ok,

I have finalised my spec with the OPC, its touch and go whether they can get it approved for me though as my build is in Feb!

This is the final spec, I know most of you will disagree with the sports chrono but I need to tell the time.... I think it would cause to many issues with the OPC if I remove it this late on in the game, they are being very good with my last minute changes but the price is going up if it starts coming down....

Sapphire Blue Metallic (looking at birch green wrap - I've fallen in love)
Black (stitching in Platinum Grey) Leather interior
Exterior Rear wing supports in black
Transmission / Chassis 6-speed manual gearbox
Sport Chrono Package incl. Porsche Track Precision App and preparation for laptrigger
Fuel tank 64-litre
20-inch GT4 wheels
Interior Automatically dimming mirrors with integrated rain sensor
Full bucket seats
Two-zone automatic climate control
Smoking package
Porsche Communication Management (PCM) including navigation module with universal audio interface
Sound Package Plus
Mobile phone preparation
Digital radio
Online Services - Thanks for the top tip AdamV12V (Its free)

There it is.....

Build in Feb, delivery in March and then its time to take a trip up to the North West of Scotland!

Thanks for all the advice and pointers, much appreciated.

I would also think about seat heating if available with full buckets, floor mats and passenger footwell storage net.
Not available with the buckets, don't want the net not sure it would ever get used.... Floor Mats, well it would be nice if they threw those in for me at the OPC after spending 75k with them..... I know I know wishful thinking!

Yup, "810 - Floor Mats" are a std part of the UK spec and don't have to be ordered seperatly. You can optionally upgrade them at build to "CFX - Personalised floor mats with leather edging" for £215.
Phew....

Not what he said.

PCM may have value to some now - dependant upon how you've specified your car. However, if you've specified it with the idea that it'll make selling easier "years down the line" then the reverse may well be true. Technology (when it's old technology), dates a car.

Mine is a CS car, to be used on sunny weekends and the odd track day. It'll never be a daily driver and I definitely don't want PCM. My use is probably common.

If on the very odd occasion I require nav then I'll use my phone or Garmin.
Each and everyone to their own!

Mines going to be a weekend car and I may / may not use the Nav for my trips! However the reason I kept it in is down to if I need to sell the car earlier than I had planned and I'm concours of non PCM vehicles hanging around. The Boxster Spyder at Romans is a car in point! It's a great car and nicely spec'd the owner didn't go PCM but obviously had to sell earlier than they wanted but it's not moving and Romans are lowering the price weekly (I haven't checked recently if it's now sold)!

So although if I was 100% sure I would be keeping the GT4 for the next 4/5 years plus I wouldn't have spec'd it but currently my situation means I may have to release the money in the GT4 earlier than that (worst case scenario)! And the PCM just means it's not going to slow that process up or artificially de-value the resale price if I have to!

Problem is most people would have spec'd the PCM for more or less the same reasons so we all get trapped in this way of thinking. I wish I could have been braver but I couldn't take the risk!

Smoking package
Your worriworriedes about the effects a clock has on resale, yet your going to smoke in it?

Daniel

I'm not a smoker the reason I spec'd it was to give a cleaner look to the centre console with a small lid to the hole which is normally there, the other advantage is the extra power outlet!

Good spec and almost exactly the same as mine but without club sport.
You could argue that you should go the whole hog and add it? Ads a little more occasion and purpose to the car plus resale?

Just a thought?
I did think about it but mine's a weekend car and will rarely see a race track, mainly north Wales and Scotland as well as the Cotswold country lanes where I live! I also plan to take it into Europe and felt I needed the extra space behind the seats for bags etc when on longer trips and thought the CS would rob that from me!

If I was buying for a track tool I would have binned off PCM and all niceties such as DAB, dual climate and spec'd it with PCCB and CS probably come out similar price but would have been focused for the cars predicted use!

If money wasn't a consideration I would have added PCCB and contrast stitching as they look superb, I get brake envy any time a car is posted on here with them but I had to draw the line somewhere! Maybe Tom would sell me his brakes from the one that's just had a wee accident?

What your porsche config code? I'm 8 weeks into ownership.....
Erm, I think this is the current one, http://www.porsche-code.com/PG5LPGG0 - it will change before lock-in, I'm sure!
Do you think automatically dimming mirrors with integrated rain sensors is sensible, I know for one if I jumped in a 75k car and I had to manually dip my rear view mirror I would get a little miffed with that!

Well, I had to draw a line at what I was speccing for me and for others. I hate dimming in the rear view and I have no intention in using in the rain, so wasn't any point for me.

I'm still considering going very light on spec, plenty of time to change my mind!
Little yellow centre marker on the steering wheel as youve gone yellow stitching and belts?

If you are considering keeping for a while I would really look at ditching the PCM.... I know we (I) have been through this for ages but the more I think about it the more I think you don't need it and the CDR plus comes with the DAB radio inclusive! The only time it seems to be an issue is if you want/need to sell it quite quickly!
