Hi all,

put a deposit down on a 2015 65 Cayman S (981) the other day after 11 years as a VAG hot hatch owner.

In my 11 years I have been used to using VCDS to change ECU settings, such as turning off cornering fog lights, activating alarm bleep, activating brake light blinking under hard braking, auto lock doors, mirror dipping, diabling start stop etc etc etc.

Been told a specialist can do this on Porsche with PIWISS, question is does anybody have a list of stuff that can be enabled/disabled on a 981 Cayman?

Stop/Start is controlled by a button by the gear lever - you have to reset to "Off" after each start - EU requirement unlike USA
Cupra had this as standard as well, I disabled it by setting the triggering value on alternator to a lot lower or higher (can't remember) that it ever got to, worked a treat.

I've not found an alarm beep? Is there one?
.
Don't know, was kinda hoping there was, I find it useful, say somebody has a key jammer nearby, the alarm wouldn't bleep when walking away therefore I would know its not locked.

That's why I've had it on all of my VAG cars.

Lights flash + mirrors fold back when car is locked
Cupra also did that but I'mt he kind of person who is already walking away when I press it haha. Will have to adjust my habbit, although it looks like you might be able to enable it.

I will email the dealer today see if they would be willing to make some changes for me, start/stop disabled is a big one, rain sensor wipers as well (not sure if the car has it turned on already)

Had them on my Leon, left them in auto, if I ever felt they weren't needed or were to fast I'd just put them into manual.

I thought the dipping passenger mirror (in reverse) was only supported if you had seat memory. I did manage to enable this using Carista via the OBD port - but without the memory it dips so little that it's not very useful.
Ah carista works does it? I've got that

It "works" but does practically nothing of value in terms of extra settings for the 981. I was a beta tester for a while and it gave some useful stuff on VW/Seat stuff but, though they originally said there were software upgrades coming for the 981 it never materialised. Certainly not worth paying for if its for the 981.
Ah ok yeh I was a tester for VAG
