Always nice to see some interesting modified 911's up for sale:

I like all of these cars and almost bought the mint green 964 after speaking to its previous owner but in the end thought it was a bit OTT with light weight fly wheel and bucket seats for casual sunday drives in the Summer. What I find interesting is that I've seen all of these cars come up for sale 2-3 times in the last few years - none of the owners seem to have bonded with them. I wonder why because on the face of it they all look fantastic

Those cars all equal headaches come resale time. If you know you'll keep one forever then fine but things change.
I like the 964 but not at GT3 money, that's why I bought a GT3 instead.

Some people see the journey of creating their individual car as part of the experience, others would just love to own something individual that's been created to a high standard.
I like this thread. Question, why is it that modified classic 911's are frowned upon when other marques don't suffer in the same way?
An example would be a TR6, a fully restored car that may have a completely different interior colour, specification, engine mod's etc can be woth in excess of £30k.
Do it to a 911 using genuine Porsche parts and you're looked down on by others (both in terms of market value and socialy)
I really don't understand this, mine's a keeper so I'm not bothered about the value but I do get a bit P****d off when owners of mint original cars look down their nose at you at events. Perhaps they're worried some of these desirable updated 911's may one day have an effect on the value of their own.

Yep Arrow, I do love some replicas, I would just struggle to pay the prices being asked when you can have a rarer car that was properly developed and built by Porsche, for similar money.
I do love the 964 and discussed it with its former keeper who is on here. I would have even paid £35k. It didn't sell for £38k so I can't understand JZM pricing it at £40-odd K. God loves a trier though.

Cobra Paul, it's just different strokes for different folks. If you're happy then fine.
My dad has restored classics all his life and believe me, modified classics are just as marmite to most people.
Like I say, I love some modified Pork but not a silly inflated prices. Yes the mint green 964 cost more to build than it would sell for, but the guy knew that when he started out.
It's an RS rep with a sunroof though! Like I say £35k would be okay, anymore is lunacy and I am a HUGE 964 fan.

The mint car (colour and condition!) was mine, I sold it earlier this year after 5 and half years of loving it. I bonded with it and loved it but times change and I just didn't use it enough. I don't really understand why it's so quickly back on the market but it's a fine thing. My replacement is a much modified '71 car in Gulf Blue.

I keep looking at minty.... After 2 996TT and currently a 997 turbo i'm starting to desire something a little different. Just concerned it might be a little too focussed and with those seats would I need to carry round the chiropracter instead of the wife?!! I know the peeps at jasmine as they look after all my pork so I know its been screwed together well.
How usuable was it David if you dont mind me asking?

Are GT3s really that rare? That Cup-engined 993 is possibly unique and would interest me more than a GT3. A good specialist or knowledgeable enthusiast can significantly enhance a 911 for a given role, free of the marketing and legislative constraints companies like Porsche have to develop within today.There's a rich history of modified 911s and Porsche themselves used to build modified cars, and supply kits for owners to enhance their own cars beyond what was acceptable to the market at large. Both routes can result in great cars but with different appeals for different folk, and as pointed out above the journey of developing the car can be fun too.

It was fine, though I did ridiculously low miles in time I owned it. The seats were surprisingly good, I drove to Le Mans in it every year and that's c500 miles for me and no issues at all. Harnesses alone are a bit of a pain, though I guess they come into their own on the track -something I never did with minty.After 2 996TT and currently a 997 turbo i'm starting to desire something a little different. The blue car is just being finished by Jasmine. It has been horrendously expensive.....
What happened to that guy who had a stunning blue 3.2 Carrera shell, 3.8 engine on throttle bodies, rsr bodywork and 993 six speed box?
Think his name was Mateo or something, cant find him on the directory, but remember his car about five years ago at Brands, and he had just finished it.
Without doubt one the prettiest, and most sorted 911's I have set my eyes on. Sound was to die for!!
