Here you go Steve - you don't need to do anything to this - bargain......

A modern - 981 Cayman S PDK with 3.8L Carrera engine, Ehresmann installed and tuned in 2015 with 200 cell cats 415 PS, Centre Gravity installed suspension with split wishbones, coilover inverted Damptronics with Elbach springs and helpers, GT3 top mounts, GT4 ARBs, mostly solid ball joints, 6 pot front callipers and Girodisks all round, DSC suspension controller, forged wheels and Cup2 - looked completely standard aside from ride height and rake. 40k happy miles and 54 track days in UK and on the Continent.
Replaced with this..
..which after 4K miles has just been replaced with..
Modifying the Cayman was a very enjoyable journey doing something I'd never done before but succeeded through extensive research and selecting the best people to do the work (I am not an engineer). Aside from trying to make a Red GT3 less obvious (noisy on track) it'll remain standard.

Why did you sell the modified Cayman? Sounds perfect
Because there were no more sensible modifications I could make and I'd got as much out of the experience and car that I could. It was a home brew PDK GT4 and I wanted to try the real thing that had benefited from zillions of hours of Porsche engineering development to see how close I'd got. It was better power delivery than the 718 but less resolved in the suspension.I really didn't want to wait for a PDK 718 GT4 so went for the manual with the intention of swapping to a PDK when available, but then thought that would really be more of the same so off to GT3 land.

..so how much 'more' is the GT3 over the others?
Other than it has 80 odd more hp I don’t know as I have driven it only 40 miles, but off to collect a click and collect spanner tomorrow so I’ll have 30 miles more knowledge. At Castle Combe March so I’ll start to understand it then. Been slightly obsessed with this Safari ++ spec 3.2 Carrera since I've saw it a week or so ago. Looks to have been very nicely executed (with some help from H&R & Bale Motorsport).

I’ve been looking for a base car. What has happened to prices of manual 964 C2’s? Hardly any for sale and not cheap. Ouch
Just had a quiet look on here for a possible base car .... it’s not going to happen. Edited by Steve Rance on Sunday 14th February 08:06
Same with the earlier 3.2 and SC. Prices have gone absolutely crazy...... crazy crazy crazy. Some utter tat classed models back in the day now going for silly money let alone the good stuff thats now gone to very high prices.
My 964 C2 is what I'd modify, will modify it specifically for driving Alpine mountain passes
Emphasis of the build will be on lightweight, very lightweight, handling and brakes with a little bit of engine and transmission work too
It's been a joy to drive around the Alps in Austria and Slovenia and the Pyrenees in France, Spain and Andorra but I've a long list of +2000m high drives that I still need to do

this was build on a 1985 3.2 some parts look good, other parts hm and I do not know if I like it or not, it surely was a big job, it has a bit F40 over it and a flatnose and? some aero things look good, the front radiator air escape in the bonnet for instance, and on the rear those aero inlets.
anyhow, came across it, thought I share it here, have not seen such build before.
