Precisely what makes it such an excellent B road car. Long travel, compliant, perfectly damped suspension.
That pitch and squat enables you to feel what’s going on through the seat of your pants and feel the grip through the steering wheel.
The really big deal is the weight, it enables Tuthill to run soft springs, dampers and ARB’s, all of which makes for a car perfectly suited to our increasingly badly surfaced UK roads.
Small tyres (with sensible height sidewalls), carbon wheels and carbon discs equal hugely reduced unsprung weights, another big bonus which will make the car ride/glide amazingly over our poor road surfaces.
I wish Henry Catchpole was good mates with Richard T ...
Look forward to seeing some images and hearing your review Andrew...![smile](/inc/images/smile.gif)
Henry will definitely review the car - maybe drive mine in UK or P’s gold car in US depending on what Hagerty want to do. That pitch and squat enables you to feel what’s going on through the seat of your pants and feel the grip through the steering wheel.

what a fanastic thing - congrats Andrew
what paint colour is that?
hopefully you can specify a different seat/door fabric to the car in the video! Proper P houndstooth?
It is amethyst metallic - and yes the interior of each car is fully customisable and mine is different, a mix of darker and lighter browns with some textures plus elements of amethyst and gold taken from the exterior. what paint colour is that?

On the customisation, these are very bespoke cars and you can do pretty much anything.
As well as aesthetics (see below), car #1 has a carbon hydraulic handbrake which you probably saw Richard using in the video with Chris.
I also asked for a pair of rally timers on the dash and Tuthill have commissioned Bremont to do some for all the cars, custom for the 911K with a lovely mounting plate to attach them to the dash.
Also rather than have a heavy stereo I asked for a magnetic charging pad on the dash to mount my phone, and some Bluetooth speakers in the doors with an amp hidden behind the dash. So I have waze, spotify, handsfree phone etc.
The instrument panel has 3 of the holes used for instruments (rev counter etc) and two house ingenious air vents which open and close as you rotate them. I can’t explain it very well, hopefully they will be shown on another video. They are wonderful mechanical things.
The interior is completely bespoke and I believe Tuthill are using same people who do DLS. You can have any kind of fabrics and textures. The flax carbon seat backs and steering wheel spokes can be in regular carbon, which is what I have done and it matches the exposed elements of the carbon rear bulkhead.
A lot of people have dashboards made of woven materials but I have gone for metal with lots of small drilled holes and painted amethyst like the exterior.
Since there is use of tobacco metallic and gold on the exterior, some of that is carried into the interior as well, for example gold bezels on the dash instrument dials.
The rev counter has a painted mouse on it, designed by my wife. When Richard pulled my shell out of the barn at the start, a mouse poked its head out of the dash![smile](/inc/images/smile.gif)
The Ti roll cage is covered in dark brown leather, except for the horizontal bar onto which the harnesses are attached, which is kept as bare Ti.
Pedals are from a Carrera GT as is the gear knob.
Door cards have two vertical stripes to symbolise 11 in case you need reminding!
Seats have 911K embroidered on the headrests.
Basically they give you renders of the entire interior and you can say I want this here, and that there, this material here, and so on. We could have lined the engine bay but I didn’t want to do that.
The wheels with their carbon rims were originally going to be fully painted. Whilst this kind of car shouldn’t have acres of exterior exposed carbon I don’t think, I did want something subtle and Tuthill came up with the small exposed band and unpainted insides of the wheels, as in an earlier photo; which is perfect.
For a long time the door mirrors were the simple traditional flag style ones but then they came up with the bullet style ones, but a little smaller than some and made in carbon. These can be left bare, or painted entirely or in part and in any colour, I’ve gone for silver.
All the cars are planned to have a hand painted Porsche bonnet crest and a Titanium 3d printed 911K on the engine lid. You can ask the artist to paint things on the car, the gold car has a pink pig. I was going to have a Shell logo as some of the period ST’s had but somehow it was overlooked and now the car is PPF’d.
Richard has also sourced a pair of proper headphones which are painted in line with the interior decor of the car. You don’t need the headphones really, maybe if you are properly on a mission and a mate is reading “pace notes”…

Thanks for sharing Andrew.
Are they all narrow body or would Tuthill do a 911K in an RSR like wide body form?
The car is modelled on an ST and before it gained the 911K name it was known internally as STL-11. They have a supply chain with ST bits so it might be more pain than it is worth to modify a 911K build and also with wider track, larger wheels and tyres and so on. But it can’t be impossible, always worth asking! Are they all narrow body or would Tuthill do a 911K in an RSR like wide body form?

if on the door I also like something simple like this, a bit titanium side mirrors

I also like the way those titanium look? mirrors are placed, in the little side windows, so the doors stay clean.

anyhow, lovely car they build for you, and funny mouse story and coming back in the car![biggrin](/inc/images/biggrin.gif)
Thank you. And yes I believe they can mount the side mirrors in the window area like you have shown. ![](https://i.ebayimg.com/thumbs/images/g/9IIAAOSw9bxku8Nr/s-l640.jpg)

Looking forward to reading your assessment once you have had a chance to drive your car. You own or owned pretty much all of my favourite cars, so it will be interesting to read your views
I am really looking forward to getting behind the wheel and will certainly share my thoughts for those who are interested!PlywoodPascal said:
have to say I really like the flax fibre composite - the finish is much warmer and more natural (obviously) than CF, seems ideal for interior parts, and doesn't (for now) have some of the tackiness of (too much - I think the exposed bits on/in Andrew's 911 look/sound rather tasteful) 'traditional' carbon fibre. (mostly the tackiness comes from the super shiny finish in my view).
Yes, here is a seat back for my car. I felt retaining the flax would clash with the exposed carbon elements of the rear bulkhead (second pic, which shows the fully exposed bulkhead before interior trim is added to hide a lot of it).![](https://thumbsnap.com/sc/eNjXEhKU.jpg)

I’ve never had any issues with the offset driving position in aircooled 911s. But, LHD is better - and especially so with 915 gbox.
One thing I always check is that the carpet and any mats are not fouling the floor hinged accelerator pedal travel.
Like all things, you soon get used to it if driving a RHD car and changing gear with left hand. Most people living in the UK don’t give it a second thought. And a well built and maintained 915 is not difficult to use. Obviously they will build whatever you want - originally I had a LHD shell but swapped over. One thing I always check is that the carpet and any mats are not fouling the floor hinged accelerator pedal travel.
A little bit of an update for those interested.
The interior is almost done, hopefully next couple of days.
Engine build, dyno, running under load in mule car, finalise mapping, likely mid-end Oct. Fingers crossed.
You can see some of the details starting to come together now.
I decided to partially wrap the Titanium rear cage in leather. The painted shell is 9kg lighter than the gold car as they have developed the carbon panels a bit more. So I am reinvesting in the aesthetics and ambiance. Part of the fun of the project is stretching your own creativity.
The result I think is stunning:

To their credit, Tuthill are still developing some details. The door tops are now in carbon:

And the handbrake and reverse lever look cool:

The tribute items to the Carrera GT:

The dash top doesn’t have air vents, to keep the look clean. Instead the screen is heated, which works very well on Tuthill’s Sweden rally cars:
