it is all very personal. I have had a number of 911s over the years.. 3.0SC, 3.2carrera, 3.3 930, 964 C4, 964 3.6 turbo and have had another 993 C2. All of the other cars have been standard in appearance. I just fancied something different this time that is not a copy, or back date. I have not cut or destroyed anything on the car and it could be back to standard in an afternoon with the box of standard parts that I have saved.
I am chuffed with it, and i will never park next to another one like it!
This is a photo of my last car, which looked standard, but had loads of mods, 9m billet head (which i was involved in the development of) big reds (painted black), KW variant3, RS light flywheel, GT3 LSD.

I summary of my sources for the parts/services. It may be of interest?
Duck tail. Rennspeed in the USA via ebay. It took a lot of work to get it to fit. www.rennspd.com

It would be interesting to see some good pictures when you get a chance.....993's with ducks are few and far between let alone one with Fuchs style wheels!

There does seem to be a few in the states but having been to countless Porsche events in the UK and Europe over the last ten years I don't think I've even seen one in the flesh.

I'll be looking out for your car during the summer, it'll be very easy to spot:-)

It is dirty now. So all that I have to do is use it and enjoy it.
No tyre dressing required.

This looks fab, more so with a bit of grime and use. Well done smile Is that Porsche sticker on the rear lid coloured or see through?

Slightly off topic, how did you get on with the RS flywheel on your previous 993? I'm asking as many owners as I can, mines sat in the box ready to be installed, but I keeping hesitating as I'm hearing about stalling issues and problems in start stop traffic etc from (abit only a few) owners.

The rs flywheel did cause staling issues, i adjusted the idle valve which improved matters, but there was still a problem after a long period off throttle. I concluded that this was an issue with the over run fuel cut off (ORFCO) settings which i had adjusted as part of a remap (9m heads, different cams, cats inlet mods etc).
To be honest it was still much more difficult in traffic than the standard flywheel, but the improvement in the feel of the car was dramatic. Blipping the throttle is more like a super bike than a car.
The other thing to remember is that the transmission gets noisy with the loss of the DMF. It sounds as if the gearbox is about to fail with gears rattling at various speeds.
If you are tracking and like hard core then the RS flywheel is for you. it is a bit like solid/stiff gearbox mounts.

the deck lid sticker is dark grey like the rest of the stickers.

Damn. ....... it seems 50% like it and 50% its either a bit of a ball ache or a total pain in the arse for just a road car.

One of the cars I looked at before buying my 993 had had one fitted previously but he owner had swopped it back to standard because of the stalling issues.

I did get around the stalling issues, and would not swap back. Wayne at chip wizards did the mapping and Colin at ninemeister did the adjustment to the idle valve, which is simple. my car was running more valve overlap due to the cams, this made it more tricky.
The standard flywheel is unbelievably heavy, if i had to replace the clutch it would be a tough call. it really transforms the feel of the car, making it much more focused.
I think that it is really a question about what you use the car for. If it is for driving to work in London, i wouldn't do it. if you drive the car for fun and do the odd track day then it would be a good idea.

...another alternative could be to source an early 964 solid non-DMF f'wheel, and then get that lightened and balanced (somewhere between DMF and RS as a 'fast road' trade-off)

Yes that is on my list. A 30mm drop would look great without being to much of a pain.
I am really impressed with the wheels, they are nice and light, very well finished and easy to clean.

Quick question; what size tyres are you running on the Fuchs -- would they accomodate 265/35r18 and 245/40r18 ?

I am running the standard Porsche 265/35/18 rear, 225/40/18 front. I think that the 245/40/18 should fit. There is plenty of clearance. If you are serious I could have a measure up of the fronts for clearance.

Yep, thinking of it. i dont seem to use it, dog and kids dictate that the E61 BMW seems to get all the use.
