My 1980 930 Project.
Discussion
this is where we are to date....
930 used to have a Dage fiberglass flat nose front end, steel rear vented arches, big side sills and an enormous rear spoiler. All that has now been removed with a view to putting the back to factory.
New front inner and outer wings quarters and new rear outer quarters bought from Porsche. Trying to obtain rear inner quarters but i am informed they are no longer made.....i only need the bottom 6 inches so they will have to be fabricated. Once the car is a shell state on a dolly we can have a proper look the rear end to see whats what.
I will try to do a weekly image update for those who are interested.
On a separate note i strongly suspect i may need a hand sourcing some parts so any assistance along the way will be much appreciated.

That looks like the colour, the front indicators are slightly different on a UK car and mine has gold wheels but yes i agree it does look stunning. I don't recall ever seeing a 911 in that colour. The shade of gold was wrong on my car after having being repainted when the kit went on. v8ksn said:
Always interested in these sorts of projects, watching one man's vision come to fruition
Have you got a final idea in your head of where you want to be with it?
The car will be totally original with brand new and or refurbished parts throughout. I'm in now so no turning back!Have you got a final idea in your head of where you want to be with it?
I understand when they were assembled at the factory there wasn't any rustproofing applied to the inner rear quarters prior to the outer wings going on. Any rust preventative applied afterwards wouldn't have reached the upper parts of the inner wings.
Mine looked perfectly OK on the outside, once the rear wings were off and the shell media blasted the inner quarters were found to resemble teabags, totally perforated with little or no integrity. Both sides, along with the rear panel between the rear lights. The outer panel was fine, the inner totally shot. The shell would have been useless in a side impact.
I now look at shiny, tidy cars and wonder what is lurking beneath.
