Graypauls certainly don’t have an issue with it as they fitted mine a month ago.
hey mate - i have decided that i also want to opt for one of these for my 458 instead of getting a full blown new exhaust. Can you let me know where you ordered your controller from?

Are you happy with the results? really excited for this! i love the sound of my 458 in race mode - so more of this in the other drive modes in low revs is something i cant wait for.

cheers

I had a Forza Controller fitted yesterday (by SB Race Engineering who I would thoroughly recommend). Wow, what a difference! I fully agree with all above posters who recommended this mod. The service from Steve was great too, during purchase and subsequently with a few follow up Qs I had.

My car is a 2012 so no pops and bangs, but low down gurgle now at idle, a lovely consistent growing scream through the rev range and just brilliant on downshifts. One of the SBRE chaps took it for a little test run to make sure all working as expected and to my untrained ear it sounded like an after market exhaust had been fitted. The ability to run stealth at the click of the remote is the icing on the cake. I am very pleased! biggrin

Mine is a 2012 also, and it will pop/bang ocassionally, especially when cold - start up, open the exhaust and drive away in 2nd gear then lift offf - all the pops you can handle!

I clearly need to try harder, I can see even more fuel getting burned this weekend.

I was wondering when i first drove my 458 why it doesn't have a MPG reading on the screen...Now i know why and the reason Ferrari saw fit to give it such a large fuel tank..It drinks like a fish compared to my Porsches however every mile i drive my 458 brings a huge smile..

Haha, yes I’d wondered the same thing and have also come to the realisation that the fuel gauge and range seem to be more vaguely indicative rather than anything to base plans on when to refuel on. Burn it whilst we still can!!

O/T - Congrats on the 3.2RS allocation BTW, what a beast that’ll be (irrespective of filter/no-filter).

My 2014 does this too.

I had a great run out to the Cheddar Gorge from London via Salisbury plains on Easter Sunday, I can confirm the car definitely does pop and bang! biggrin
I was in the company of a Huracan and M4 mapped M3, the 458 certainly held its own with the valves open, fantastic mod. cloud9

Exhaust controller sounds even better with a Decatted Novitec system on the end of it.
With valves shut just as quiet as standard, utterly evil with valves open!

So I still haven't pushed the button on this valve controller mod, I just did a lovely long weekend around wales, some of the best roads right on our door step, in a couple of weeks another big road trip across Europe, so I am really tempted to go for this mod, the question I have is, does it ever cause an engine warning light to show up, given the valves will be open when they are not technically supposed to be. Also, if something went wrong with the car, can warranty use this mod as an excuse not to pay up?

I really want to get this valve controller for my 458, but just have these things in the back of my mind.

First question - no. The valve is a really simple bit of diversionary plumbing late in the exhaust system, it has absolutely no impact on the engine and there is no feedback loop from the valve back to the engine or electronics, they could never know its there. It will never cause an issue.

Second question - mostly no and some main dealers have been complicit in fitting these for customers. Others will give you the strict line that ANY change to original spec can affect warranty (even tyres) - then be vague about what that means. EU law would say that they would have to demonstrate that the modification caused any faults. Avoid this stress and simply install/remove it when it goes in for warranty/service - its a simple DIY install, first time will take you about an hour, I can do it in about 35 mins and that's being very careful.

I've just returned from a ~2k mile trip down to the Alps via some nice derestricted autobahn and the car (and valve) performed flawlessly. I would definitely get it done before your trip, you will not regret it imho.
