360 Pre purchase inspection
Discussion

Not advertised its by negotiation and the selling agent is a Ferrari specialist but the car has no warranty implied or given as its a customers car who does not live locally but places it in storage with them
If the dealer has said "no warranty implied, or given" then it sounds like they are selling it to you.If it was a private purchase, direct from the owner, there'd be no reason for them to say this.
Who are you paying?
Dealer? or current private owner?

Well, if you keep giving out stupid advice to buy a Ferrari that has been stored for 3 years without an inspection, then he should at least stop listening to you.
Sorry what’s stupid.. do enlighten me. The fact it’s a 20 year old car, being bought from a Ferrari specialist on sale or return, who he should, if confident in the workshop, be able to rely on their report. It’s a funking car you clueless nit wit, not a Dead Sea scroll. As I suggested it will have a few niggles, it won’t fall apart at the first sign of daylight
The fact that most of these do a few hundred miles a year and spend most of their time stored.. makes your storage point kind of irrelevant.
And further more if it’s the car I’m thinking of from a pic Barrie posted elsewhere it is at a Ferrari workshop.. not a car dealers.. few if any workshops will allow another workshop in to mark their homework as it will become a conflict of interest.
So yes very stupid.. run along now.

The fact I said to them “nah, don’t bother with those items I’ll sort them, I’ll give ya one price, and one price
only as is, old owt ya and”
I don’t even understand that nonsense you posted. Except it sounds like internet warrior bravado. only as is, old owt ya and”
The OP could be looking at a 10-20k unexpected bill if it’s not inspected. To me, the whole deal sounds totally fishy.
Your “advice” - because you like whiling away your hours on the internet or your garage - is completely stupid.

You must be simpleton then. I quite clearly explain. They gave me a pre purchase report. I made them an offer to take the car as is. Simple. The OP could be looking at a 10-20k unexpected bill if it’s not inspected. To me, the whole deal sounds totally fishy.

That is why I have said they should be able to provide a report on the car they are selling, so that the purchaser can make an informed risk based decision. It’s a specific car in a specific spec, being sold by a specialist workshop, not a dealer. Not very fishy, quite common. They are unlikely to allow another specialist in their workshop to appraise the car, and they’re unlikely to want to want to spend time taking the car elsewhere.
This isn’t going to your local Ferrari main dealer or brand specific dealer. They are confident in their ability to asses the car.
When you are trying to buy a specific car in a specific spec, where only a couple of examples exist, it is likely you will need to take a risk based approach, based on the situation presented by the seller. If that situation presents more risk than you are willing to underwrite then you walk away.
I “personally” wouldn’t necessarily walk away from a car simply because there was no pre purchase inspection. Different people take different approaches to making purchases and have different levels of risk they are willing to absorb.
Do you need anymore help or are you just here to troll.

Yet they're saying "no warranty implied, or given"

its a private sale they are just holding the car and maintain it. Nothing in it fot them so they can't offer a warranty? they didn't actually say implied or given but it amounts to the same thing I guess Yet they're saying "no warranty implied, or given"

They are experts, yet they want no comeback.
Please promise you'll get your thorough inspection of this car done.

I strongly suggest you ignore the village idiots posts below, and you get it trailered to dealer or another specialist for a full inspection.

I’m just replying to call out clowns like you - so the OP doesn’t rely on your idiotic “advice”.
What ever you say dear… because of course all of these work shops are going to trailer sale or return cars around to other work shops… You’re a fking fantasist idiot. It’s not how these places operate. I’m just replying to call out clowns like you - so the OP doesn’t rely on your idiotic “advice”.

Of course they will if they are decent. That’s exactly what I got one to do when I bought my 458 when it was sold via SOR.
You are clearly clueless yet still spouting your idiotic advice. Just give it a rest.
Yes what ever you say… like I’ve tried to say numerous times there’s a difference between a small workshop and a specialist dealer. Nothing to do with them being decent, it’s just not the way most work… that’s purely my experience. I’m glad yours was different.. do carry on with the insults, it’s entertaining none the less. You are clearly clueless yet still spouting your idiotic advice. Just give it a rest.
If the car is just being stored by them why can't you pay them to do a PPI on it if they are at 'arms length' not selling it? That said if somehow acting as 'negotiator' that might involve a fee which could question their independence.
Best option is get the owner to get someone if he can't do it to transport it to a place where you want it inspected. Although if there is nothing in it for the workshop I can't understand why they wouldn't allow an apprisal whilst it was in storage. Yes they could have serviced/maintained it but there's a marked difference with what a garage recommends needs doing and the owner actually wants doing based on their likely use. I'd want to see every service receipt to know what has been done and whetehr there are any 'advisory' comments etc..
There's a 360 at the place in Kent that's caught my eye if I have to go down the F1 route, it's only done 8k miles and has just been 'reduced'. Given the mileage I'd expect it to command more, but as others have said it's in the detail that counts.

I bought a car that was SOR from a dealer and it has a very nice 6 month warranty.
I am guessing that this specialist is Italia Autosport who have a pretty good reputation, but I could see that it could look funny them doing an inspection for a customers car.
@ m4tti , Out of interest, who did your pin recovery? UK or did you go to sates/Oz?
I also agree with some of your points, 20 year old cars are going to have a list of issues in PPI's, i personally don't think they are worth it and they also wont show half the major issues you will have anyway.
If you go down the "perfect" car route with PPI's and all that, you probably wont ever buy one...
Or pay way over the odds
