The 488 closed the gap to 650S and the 720S just blows the Ferrari away again.
The 488 looks every inch a 250k product.

I looked over a 720 recently and it looked like a 150K car. Maybe even less.

In fact in some areas the build was below something like a lotus evora.

0-200kph times are all well and good but a product has to fit securely into it's pricepoint in all aspects.

All this and we've not even started talking about mechanical/eletcrical reliability !

The 720s in some areas is actually behind a 360 Modena.

Forums ... full of rose tints, self-reinforcement and justification.

720 is incredibly ugly imo. Whoever designed the headlights should be shot!

Excluding the P1, which I love the look of, most of the other McLarens look awkward from many angles imo.

They may be good to drive, but the looks just kill it for me.

Personally wouldn’t buy one ... but hey, the world would be boring if we all liked the same thing!

I have been agonising over it all for days now, to be honest I will probably end up paying the 7% very very reluctantly. It's the best car in its class really. A 720 just does not look as good, neither does the lambo. As for speed I would venture to say they are all close enough that the difference would be made by the driver and not the car.

Although I am not buying this car to be a garage queen I am betting the Ferrari will hold its value the best too and the overall cost of ownership will be the least.

I guess maybe I am just tight.

I'm amazed anyone can come to that ridiculous conclusion.
Whilst the looks of the 720S don't appeal to me personally I still appreciate the quality of the components and fit and finish. The aero is leading edge technology and It looks and feels more HYPERcar price than supercar to me so clearly we all see things differently.

My old F430 felt it was built in a different millenium to my 650S.

Comparing a 720S to a 360 is just laughable

I agree about the McLaren design, it just doesn't do it for me.

A week or so after down-spec'ing my car, I'm quite comfortable with eliminating the CF apart from the seat backs which are part of the goldrake seats and the steering wheel. Choosing it originally was a bit of a splurge decision anyway so no harm to rob Ferrari of their extra profit. I will also take great pleasure in telling the salesman that I have no interest in their various insurance and paint prep money-makers.

A nice idea. They absolutely hate speccing cars with less than £35k of extras. And really, you can do without a lot of the stuff they sell. Apple carplay for the huge margin for example. I hate Siri enough already.

Can see your logic and annoyance but its not really the way you want to start a relationship and experience with the Ferrari brand though is it.
Bit of a bitter sweet pill and might tarnish that whole hand specified new car experience which is a real shame.
Guess they haven't heard of price protection once an order is signed and deposit paid

That's a fair point actually. Sometimes you have to just bend over.

Interesting my options were about 35k. I will definitely slim them down a little as there is stuff in there which I was not 100% on anyway, I had a budget and spent up to it. Now that budget will be far exceeded if I stick with the current spec.

The whole price rise thing has soured the experience anyway so I am happy to have saved the money. Good job the salesman didn’t then come back and say, problem is, you’re not spending enough on options!!

Do you get it now ????

absolutely appaling, would be ridiculous on a 20K let alone 200k

in point of fact, 360 modena''s were pretty good on corrosion !

Yeah not good but I'm sure its the exception to the rule yet the only "incident" on the internet makes it an epidemic.
I've physically seen thousands of rusty 360's in my time in the motor trade but I've only ever seen 1 other McLaren 12C

Rambo, go into one of the McLaren approved body shops and have a look around there are numerous McLarens undergoing corrosion repairs, some cars are even brand new!

As for you having personally seen corrosion on "thousands" of 360's..., I've told you A MILLION TIMES .... STOP EXAGGERATING

Surprised that you don't shout more loudly about the Kia's you sell being the best car on the road... blah, blah.... perhaps you will next time the wind changes and decide to change allegiance(?)

No need to shout about some things that anyone with an ounce of sense already knows. My F355 has some minor corrosion on it despite several repairs and I've not seen another as good as it IMHO

Apparently just over 16,000 built altogether.
So let’s say “thousands” is 4,000+, that means he’s seen 1:4 of all the 360s, worldwide.

I think I need to go to specsavers. I thought I clicked on a thread about the 488 and I ended up on one about Mclarens again

I am not biased about cars but Mclarens leave me cold. Haven't even been into a showroom. Not helped by the Knightsbridge one being appointment only - what's that about

Cant have any Tom Dick or Harry turning up. If your names not down you can come into club exclusivity
