360 story and engine rebuild
Discussion
Great thread. Lovely that you use the car so much.
Looks like AV are doing a nice job for you and being helpful with the parts.
I think the layman would assume these cars get the best workers to touch them through their life, from my experience working on them I’ve seen & rectified (and heard of) some poor work (timing wrong, stripped threads, parts left off or insecure). I was a bit worried at first working on such expensive cars & after doing timing belts when you get an incoming call from the owner your pulse quickens for sure.

A brilliant read and I don’t normally get to involved with this kind of thing but I found it very interesting.
A V have been amazing with me and my Lambo Gallardo Spyder and I’d much rather do a longer journey to see them than anyone else.
Thanks Adz. Used to have a 430 didn’t you if I remember correctly?A V have been amazing with me and my Lambo Gallardo Spyder and I’d much rather do a longer journey to see them than anyone else.

Personally I do not know why people do not share the names of the companies who do rubbish jobs. Anyone servicing a Ferrari and uses sealant to hold a stripped sump plug in needs naming imo.
totally agree with that. You have forums were like minded owners gather and chat, however you cant give names of companies that have done outrageous work.So the unaware will take there pride and Joy's to the same out fits.
Brilliant Brian! I bet you can’t wait to get it home.
Agree on the naming and shaming but see why it can’t be allowed. It just takes one malicious post to harm a business and without validation is a dangerous place to be for the forum....
Maybe if the T&Cs pushed the liability to the poster it might work. But would you then take the risk?
It’s clear from these forums who the really good guys are....

This is and has been a most interesting read, I as a former 360 spider owner, and possible California owner would, if its not being inpertinent love to know the cost or a rough guide. It allows one to assess the viability of the on going ownership of such cars.
Your car I am most sure will benefit for many many years from your investment in it, I am looking forward to seeing the conclusion of this splendid adventure.

This is an amazing thread, will be great to get her started and running again.
Thanks for sharing.
Looks like you have found a fantastic company in A.V. to do your rebuild work but also shows from whoever fitted the wrong crank seal and overtorqued the sump thread how careful you have to be in picking people to work on your car. In fact it may have nothing to do with being careful, it may just come down to luck.

[...] and a red 360 Modena before that.
...which I bought from you and still have 10 years later. Funnily enough (expensively enough), last year it had the same issue that Bebs’ 360 had with the coolant heat exchanger. Fortunately it was spotted during its annual service and hadn’t yet caused any damage.Edited by chrismox on Sunday 16th February 10:39
