Advertised price and sold price are typically very, very different.
Sometimes sure..... not for low mile Rosso manual 430s with full (and fully documented) service history tho.....This car sold for pretty much ALL the money (130k), fact.
I'm not suprised ZeroH - It sold within just 2 or 3 days.

Furthermore, I noted your comment about the metal gated Ferrari being something you romanticised about as a kid - well yes I'd certainly agree with you on that.

While I'm not directing this comment at Zero H at all, it does seem to me that many people on here talk about the Manual Gated Ferrari, being something that only an old man (well mid 40's like myself) would want to buy and that we are a dying breed but I'm not sure about this.

While many young teenage kids now do love their X Boxes and alike, which contain games with virtual cars controlled by flappy paddle gear shifts, let's not forget that when these kids reach 17-18 they will leave their bedroom computer games behind and go on to drive real cars, with I suspect around 95% learning to drive with a Manual Gearbox - Again, once they've passed their tests, their first car will no doubt have Manual Gearbox controls.

So I suspect the enjoyment of driving a manual car will continue within the younger generation also, meaning that the demand and desire for Manual cars will not go away, or be something simply for the oldies.

Until such a time that 17 year olds start learning to drive in 1.0 litre Ford Fiestas with flappy paddles, the enjoyment experienced with driving a manual car and the desire to go on to own a Ferrari with a manual gearbox will continue, not just with older people like myself, but down through the generations - No doubt increasing further the demand for these very rare cars.

As a matter of interest what was it advertised at?

I'll be getting a flappy paddle car when I'm old and my left leg and left tricep/bicep no longer work.
Or a Jetpack smile

Early 30's here and I love my manual Spider. On some fairly tight mountain passes this year it was great - very involving. I am however about to change to an F1. It seems like a good time to do so.

The current price differential gets a late F1 Spider with less mileage, more options, and leaves enough left over to cover a considerable chunk of my project, which will continue on the next car.

I love the F430 manual 'box, but having enjoyed an SMG M3 years ago I'm perfectly open to F1 (though do dislike DSG). I wouldn't pay to change my car if the market was different, but with things as they are it works for me.

For what it's worth - market correction or not - I fully expect manual gearbox cars to keep climbing in value compared to their F1 counterparts.

fair enough, are you going to trade it or have a crack at selling privately?

Ok, so if you have a Manual F430 would you bail now or do we still think they are rising ?

Regarding values i remember when i brought my 430 4 years ago 360CS were £120 i think and thought then surely they can not go much higher !

Personally, I think it's very early days with these cars and there's still a long way to go in terms of value increases - After all, they've only just started to really climb this year, I certainly won't be selling mine...... Even if they don't go up a great deal this year, I feel confident that they won't go down - Also, what else are you going to put the money in to?

I think you'll struggle to get a better return on anything over a Manual F430 at the moment - And if you put your money in to something dull, then you won't have the pleasure of owning a Ferrari!

Really, you think they will climb more ?

I am very fortunate to have more than 1 Ferrari so if i do bail i still can get my "Ferrari fix"

If you had told me 4 years ago that the car i was buying would go up in value i would have thought you were mad, totally mad to be honest. So with the value being what they are perceived to be you have to consider at what point do you sell.

I don't think it is relevant what you do with the money as the point being you will be up on your original purchase price and at some point they have got to come back down, haven't they ??

Of course no one really knows, but I'm not sure they will come down from where they are at the moment - I think they'll continue to go up or at least stay the same.

If you have another Ferrari then it may make sense for you to sell, as I suppose you can only drive one at any one time. I guess if you've made money on the F430 and can think of something else to do with it, then maybe it's time for you to sell.

For me if I had another £120k tomorrow from the sale of my car, I don't know where I'd put it to give myself a better return - So for me I'm just going to leave it where it is

Well, they say action speaks louder than words, so I bought one at the weekend !

Which tells you my view. Rocketing prices for manual 430's is hardly a UK or RHD phenomenon, in the U.S. the price rises mean you can barely find one asking less than $200k.... EU LHD prices have been very strong and rising for a while now... I just think the market is starting to wake up to the significance of the relative rarity (for a modern car), and historical significance of this model..

My car never came to market - those that do are seeing incredible levels of interest - my 6mth journey has taken me from 308/355/360 and eventually to the last 6sp of them all, the 430.

But regardless the cars potential investment value, I can't think of a more primal joy for a lifelong petrolhead than opening the door to your own Ferrari and being greeted with the sight of a chrome gated shift, just waiting for the touch of your hand....

It would be interesting to know how many 430 Manual were manufactured. There were around 1300 Challenge Stradale manufactured and RHD prices are £225K up to £320k.

Now I'm not suggesting 430M is or ever will be at the same level of desirability. What I will say though is that I sold my 430M to buy a 360CS and sometimes wish I had the 430M in the garage as its more usable. BTW I did say 'sometimes'!

You never know with this relatively new 'collectible/investment' car market what will happen. But if there are only, say, a hundred RHD 430M, prices could easily go much higher.

I read threads like this, the CS one etc in fascination. Rationally, what is happening to cars (and other assets too) over the last few years is incredible and a little bewildering. I do wonder how sustainable the rises are and at what point the tide will turn. Those who say it won't turn will be wrong, one day. Those who say it will turn will be wrong every day, until then.

IMO, there's an unwind coming but how long until it happens and how severe in the multi- trillion pound question.

That's a topic for a different thread.

Congrats to you both. Would you mind sharing privately with me what you paid? I'm looking to sell my manual Spider at the moment and this kind of info greatly helps.
