Yep a 458 with the perfect spec for me. Really looking forward to it.
I’ll give it a blast around Silverstone but it won’t be a regular thing just want to experience it.
My daily is a Maserati Granturismo so when telling the wife I’ve bought another car she had that why look on her face lol.

So you paid out more to go into an older coupe with less performance ???? Other than N/a sound what was the thinking behind that as I really struggle to see the benefit of that other than its a change of car and a "ferrari" Curledge said:

as long as Jim sees the benefit and is enjoying his new car it doesn't really matter how much you struggle!It's a personal choice, no explanation required.

No one has to explain but just interested in his thoughts as ive driven both and come to a completely different opinion.It's a personal choice, no explanation required.
If they were similar prices it would be tougher but spider to coupe and yet considerably more money doesn't make sense surely.
Now I love NA cars over turbo charged although both have their merits but the 650S spider seems to offer so much more over the prancing horse badge.
Its taken a while but it looks like the Mclaren brand is now being taken very seriously as very undervalued performance and kudos

cars aren't just about performance, the 458 has ample performance on the road for fast drivingJim82 said:

As a past 458 owner I fully understand why you bought one. I'm not just being kind when IMO Bianca Fuji with Nero roof and wheels is quite possible my favourite colour combo on 458 Italias bar none. I mean this quite sincerely and a very safe place to put your money in.Curledge said:

The 458 for me had a far better sense of speed. Having driven stuff like 650S, 570S and 720S on the road and latter on track, along with Huracans too I just found the 458 felt more alive at lower speeds and thus making it more fun and more enjoyable as a road car.I'm toying with adding a 458 to my collection but can't justify the price in relation to what else that money buys
I bought my 458 for road trips and the odd track day, I think on paper performance it was a slower car than everything else I considered from Lamborghini, Mclaren and Porsche but for me it was the car that felt the most alive, I also tried the newer Ferrari's as well, 488, F8 and for me sound aside they just seemed somewhat dull at legal road speeds.
Most supercars these days don't come alive until your well above 100mph, meaning going down a b road at 50-60mph in most super cars is a none event and as I wanted a car for road fun and engagement the 458 easily won at impressing me, its still mentally fast, but just feels a lot more engaging at legal speeds and in a road car that is what I wanted.
If I was buying more for track use then yep something like a 600 LT, Performante, 488, F8, Pista is in another league but buying said car for track work is an extremely expensive purchase 100-300k for a track toy with very expensive running cost.
For me the 458 is the pinnacle of supercars for the road, great fun at legal speeds, an amazing sound, beautiful if dated cabin, timeless looks and pretty damn reliable too, plus its a Ferrari and no matter how much some people may hate that a Ferrari has amazing history etc. but when I was buying it was purely about the drive on the road and how engaging it was.
Faster never means better!
The best car hands down I say it now is the 458 and 812's they are such engaging cars and its a real bonus they also have awesome sound tracks out the box.
