More first world problems, to stripe or not to stripe..... Unfortunatly I like it with and without (grey stipe) salesman is giving me a hard time that without the stripe it will be so much less saleable (strangly does not think white/gold will be an issue but then the stripe costs £6000 so maybe not so strange he is pushing it) which I am sorry to say does make a difference to me. I like the idea of plain white that I could put stripes on later if i wanted (not painted)and also change the colours if I fancied a change. I like to think I will keeep this a few years but then we all say that...
So question is, stripe costs £6000, will the car be worth £6000 less than others or will it be worth £20000 less.....
Crappy pictures I know, 100% on white with gold wheels plus carbon wing vents and front flaps..

I think the salesman is probably correct, a Speciale without a stripe (regular or NART) is likely to be less desirable come resale. As the stripes are painted it makes "problem" worse, like stuck on stripes on a Speciale, seriously? I notice you've carbon front wing vents. That's £ 2750 immediately found towards the stripes. The vents are an easy dealer retrofit too. So question is, stripe costs £6000, will the car be worth £6000 less than others or will it be worth £20000 less.....

I am in the procces of speccing my Speciale for next March and have spoken to a few dealers to understand what is required and what is not. The most interesting feedback I had was from the dealer in Cologne who I spoke to whilst I was out there recently on business. Very helpful and friendly dealer who spent time with me even though they knew the car was on order in the UK. The most interesting point was that Speciale production stops in March 15 according to them. A March car will therefore be one of the last cars (something the UK dealers are not saying even if you ask them). In Germany the cars are coming through with carbon rear diffusers whether or not you ordered it. It seems there is a problem producing the standard ones. The other point they answered for me was lifting gear. They advise customers against it becuase it adds weight (obvious) but stops the suspension being height adjustable. Being a track biased car in standard form you get adjustable spring seats (according to the German dealer) so ride height and corner weights can be set up. With the lifter you loose this feature. For this reason they never fit them but no customers have reported any issues even in the city centre and underground car parks. He said if you had got away with clearance in a 430 (or 911 turbo) you will get away with it in a Speciale.
With regard the stripe my research says if a rosso car it is a must. If another colour then does not matter so much as other colours will be worth a lot less in the future based on CS and scud prices. The other thing to avoid for maxamising residuals is leather interior. Again speaking to dealers and based on CS and Scud values a car with leather is worth less than a car with alcantara.
The one option that had the biggest disagrement on was the stop/start device. Germany so no way it was sacralige to fit it, UK thought it was a good idea and had other gains. Germany say there were no real world gains and they advise customers not to fit it!
It does seem that UK dealers are trying to get as many options fitted as posible and to get the true picture of what really will add value takes a bit of careful research.
So with regard to your question on the stripe as you have gone away from the 'ideal collector' spec with colours and specs it will probaly not make a lot of difference to the value. The big loss in value will be a rosso car that does not have a stripe. Based on the CS not spending 6K could loose you 20k.

Many thanks for the interesting in-depth reply. Have decided on stripes not so much for resale (as you point out it will be worth f**k all anyways as its not red) but I have come round to thinking the twin race stripe looks the part, NART is not for me.. Interior is awash with alcantara and defo no lift, even the Speciale sits up like a RR so they dont need it IMHO and anyways I usually end up lowering my Ferrari's and the 'lift system' limits this.. Have specced this time for me as opposed to the next owner and will have to live with the extra pocket pain.. Good luck with your car. Speccing my car tomorrow, one main question, is lift needed ?
I needed it for work car park access and rear drive.I have also been caught out twice over the last couple of weeks and would have been in trouble without it.It depends where you live and where you plan to take the car but i would rather have the option if needed.Honest thoughts from a selling/buying/sourcing prospective - If you're thinking it'll be a car you keep for say 2/3/5 years and you're then wanting to move it on...The lift kit does & will make it more desirable. I've had the same recently on a number of Porsche's I've been sourcing!

I live in Central London. I spec'd the lifting system in mine. I use it every day. it really depends on your personal situation. I haven't spec'd up a car in over 10 years without one, because of where I live and also the damage that I've suffered over the years. Everybody seems to have a view! Especially people who either don't own one or have never spec'd a new Ferrari before. To be honest, The Speciale handles most speed bumps pretty well (much better than my Aventador Roadster), however there will be times when you are glad that you have it (don't forget how much aero comes with the car) and warrants protecting! I find it particularly useful when parking at underground car parks......
Let me know what you decide to do and congratulations, you'll not be disappointed!

Enjoy. Fabulous car. I put the lift on my car and have only used it once. And then it was because I decided I needed to bloody use it at least once! So definitely not essential but nice to have to avoid the rare compressed bum cheeks moments griff7 said:

Probably a dumb question but I'll ask anyway - how come you are speccing a car that is no longer being made?
The order book has now closed but the last deliveries are July/August so it is now time for final spec time.Edited by Rods on Wednesday 24th June 14:53
