Changing interior trim - resale

Hey guys. I am limited to what spec I want in terms of colour and interior (Red /Creme). They’re not many for sale atm.
I have found a lot of cars with the car spec but black interior. I can get a full retrim (seats/door cards/center section) for under £3k. All napa leather by a very reputable company (they’re doing Mr AMGs new car atm).
If I wanted to sell later down the line, would this affect the resale value at all? It’s all the same quality leather that Ferrari use, if not better and will make 10 year old interior feel brand new again. So I’m unsure.
I’m not buying to sell. But to use. But if it’s going to knock £20k off resale. It may not be worth it haha

My 10 year old Ferrari interior still looks and feels and smells brand new so unless you're buying a shagged car then I don't see the value of a re-trim.I have found a lot of cars with the car spec but black interior. Red is the most common colour of 458 and crema or black interiors are also the most common. A casual glance on Autotrader shows that out of 89 cars for sale, 33 are red and 11 of those have crema interiors. It doesn't get more common than that.

Sorry. I clearly misunderstood what you were saying. Either way, my point stands. Rosso/crema is the most common 458 spec. Based on that, it’ll only be a matter of time before one comes up with the parking sensors and cruise. Audio can be upgraded (I think). And you shouldn’t be looking for a car with less than 10k miles unless you plan to look at it and not drive it. You’re paying a premium for something which is verging on garage queen territory given the likely age of the car.

No I’m just saying I wouldn’t fancy paying £140k for a car that has the crease. So it’s either retrim both seats for £2k or move on. I think I’ve been romanced into thinking anything above 10,000 is REALLY bad.
I guess I need to accept this just isn’t the case providing the service history is up to scratch.

You’ve got it all back to front. Mileage determines price. It does not determine specification or condition. I was thinking 5/10k miles.
Find the spec you want and buy on condition. I am not going to give you guidance on mileage to look at as you should be buying a 8/9 year old car on condition. What I will repeat is that if you buy a 10k mile car, you will be paying a big mileage premium and may, ironically, end up with a less well sorted car.
Like all Italian mistresses, Ferraris need to be driven regularly to keep them sweet.
My first Ferrari had over 50k miles on it when I bought it and only needed for a spark plug in 3 years of ownership. My second was bought with 11k miles on it and has cost me £6k in repairs over 3 years.

Sub 10k cars are the worst to buy IMHO You'll pay a huge premium for the low mileage and then be scared of driving it. I drove to the 'Ring in mine in October..balls to it! It's been one track at Croft and has done one lap of the ring. Hopefully get to a few of the Ferrari events this year and would like to do a Euro road trip at some point. Mine had 17500 on it if I can run that up to 30k over 3/4 years I think I will have had good value out of it. If I had bought a 10k car I would have lost a lot more in depreciation.

You're expecting to buy a 8/9 year old car for less money (almost half the price) of the brand new equivalent but you want it to be in brand new condition and have brand new reliability.
You're also expecting an essentially hand crafted machine to conform to the tolerances and specifications of a machine made and mass produced car (your AMG). Has it occurred to you that the reason there is a crease in the leather of the 458 could be because the leather might be semi-aniline and therefore a premium natural product rather than the processed and painted leather that you will find in just about any other car (including the AMG)?
You're a musician: Therefore you of all people should understand passion and emotion. Understanding Ferraris is all about understanding the emotion and passion that they provoke when you drive one. They are not about perfect paint, leather or mechanical reliability. In fact, accepting their failings as 'charm' is a part of the ownership experience. You are not paying for the perfect driving machine (see the Germans for that). You are paying for the most exhilarating driving machine.
I apologise if I come across as being a bit harsh but countless other newbies have researched their first Ferrari purchase without exhibiting quite the level of anxiety that you have done. My greatest fear for you is that the experience of owning a wonderful car will be tainted by unrealistically high expectations on your part which will be impossible to meet. It's just a damned car, not the bloody messiah.
