Rosso/Nero Daytona
Discussion
Hi,
I'm a huge Rolex fan and am also currently wearing an 116520!
Sorry for any offence I've caused, my friend had always wanted a red dial Paul Newman, but as they go for c$1m they're a bit out of his price range. So instead I took his genuine 116520, removed the dial and took it back to bare metal, soldered all the holes, re-painted the dial, the hands etc, and obtained an after-market bezel (and kept the original).
I appreciate it's not to everyone's tastes. It's similar to what Bamford do, but I wasn't brave enough to grind off the crown guards. It's not supposed to be a 1960's Paul Newmnan, just a 'nod' to it, but not a fake. Maybe like Singer is to Porsche? (Haaa!)
I probably shouldn't have hi-jacked the Ferrari V8 forum either, so again apologies to anyone I've offended!
David
