This is what 550 Barchetta looks like with its tent of a roof arrangment.

No wonder the publicity pictures never showed it with top erected....
They might as well have not bothered, that is shambolic!

Jeez. I really, really like the standard 550. They've ruined it with that soft top! Surely, they could have done something similar to the Boxster Spyder?

That is the most awful top hat i've ever seen. Wet behind or gash hood.

fixed that for ya wink I think that's it though isn't it? There's a fair chance that even with a rare, stunning (without the roof!) car like that, he probably doesn't, or can afford not to, give a fk!

Wikipedia says:

"Ferrari introduced a convertible version of the 550 at the Paris Motor Show in 2000. This Barchetta was a true roadster with no real convertible top provided. The factory did provide a soft top, but it was intended only for temporary use as it was cautioned against using the top above 70 mph."
Harry Metcalfe said there's a German-made replacement available which is good for something like 130mph. I don't know what it looks like, but it couldn't be much worse than Ferrari's attempt.

There's one that looks very Porsche Boxster Spider, I'll see if I can find a picture.

ETA: Can't find a snap, but there are loads of fugly hardtops too...

I saw one of these Ferarris today at Goodwood, Chris Evans one in fact. The "roof" is pretty interesting to say the least!

Amazing that someone who has (presumably) done well enough in life to afford such a car, yet seemingly lacks very basic common sense.

Not much better? Based on the photo above of the standard effort, I'd say it's a night and day difference!
