On the last day with Scuderia S7 they did a 3 lap "Tourist Trophy" with 5 seconds between each car.

I went almost last and was still lapped buy the fastest car (GT3 with professional driver that did 7.07)

https://www.racepix.eu/

My time was 9.21 in the Clio (9.33 from a standing start)

Richard of RingToys told me a good driver can do 8.20 in that car!!

Edit - don't know who set this lap time but some discussion in the forum that it's slow biggrin
https://fastestlaps.com/models/renault-clio-rs-200...

So I've a long way to go.

But the 599 will make up for a lot to help me down to my target of sub 8

biggrin

Hi Hughesie,

For me:

The best choice is carbobrake. If we had been able to purchase together we could have bought the latest Gen 3 discs (continuous 3D weave) as they will not make for a single car.
All people I have met that use carbobrake give excellent reviews of quality and performance.

Only 2 problems with carbobrake
1. Waiting time
2. If you have the CCM warning light on your dash, only Ferrari can clear it and they will only do so if you purchase through the main dealer. (From my limited research)

Second choice is OEM. You will get a unique one time code to clear the CCM warning light. If you contact MDL they can get genuine CCM discs at reduced cost than the main dealer.
Only 2 problems.
1. Waiting time (because of the source / deal)
2. CCM are possibly the worst option for performance

3. Girodisc
The people who have cost at the forefront go this option as well as the regular trackday guys and racers.
This was also the recommendation from Freddy at special-brakes.de.
Only 2 problems
1. Importing from the states, the cost is similar (within a couple K to price given to me by MDL)
2. Increased unsprung mass

4. Surface Transfom - when I call them, the said they don't do discs for a 599.

I have been told that 430 scuderia discs can be used on a 599.
Also been told that there's a race upgrade kit for the 430 scuderia that will fit on the 599 and some dealers have old stock they need to get rid of.

Edit / Note race upgrade kit includes calipers

My limited enquiries have not been able to confirm either.

I'm chatting with Federico at the moment from Carbo on options and availability etc, any leads on the ST 430 race upgrade would be helpful ?

I have no warning light atm !

Scarry that you have had such a catastrophic failure and no CCM warning light before hand.

No leads on the 430 race upgrade unfortunately.

All the Best with your search

Lead times on Carbo brake were EOY, no news on ST's so went OEM in the end as they were available, few upgrades as well which i'll share later when complete but:

New GTO style wheels
New Centre caps
New TPMS
New F&R discs
Titanium bolts
Braided hoses
2x new rear calipers - recommended replacing both at the same time headache

So i'll have a caliper and 3x wheels going spare soon enough smile

Hi Hughesie,

It's a shame about carbobrake production time, I went with OEM for the same reason. Did you get the deal Ferrari have for this?

New GTO style wheels will be nice. Will it be HRE?
https://www.hrewheels.com/wheels/series-p1/p101

Will you also run the same size tyres as the GTO? I can highly recommend running the larger tyre in combination with the GTO springs and ARB.

If you go to MDL you are welcome to try my car. If it's not in bits.

Best smile

Turns out that the black 599 had a similar problem with the F1 system leaking. Seems that there are long term issues with the hoses and the metal unions perishing.

For my F1 system there was actually a crack in the metal union for the hose going to the accumulator.

Screen shot below from the video MDL sent me of the leak test.

I am also having MDL do some detail work.

It's always annoyed me that the handbrake gaiter had different stitching from a previous repair so that's off to the trimmers.

Also got some 4 point harnesses but will wait to have them installed as they mount to a bolt behind the speakers and the parcel shelf needs cut.

I really want some carbon race seats but the price is very restrictive
Some inspiration from Ferrari Oslo. I like the red seat on the left but would need it trimmed in burgundy leather and alcantara.

Just hearing the price for the above seat made me cry. Second hand 430 race seat was 8k for one!

I had a very light window tint added when I first bought the car.

On the right three quarter panel it's been bubbling so asked MDL to fix it.

Bubbles starting to appear

Just horrible now

I'd previous been told that this will happen because the window is Perspex and releases a gas. I'd kind of dismissed it as the left side was perfect.

Turns out it's true, the left side is Perspex and the right side is glass.
Apparently early cars were perspex but the changed over to glass on later cars.
Mine is literally a crossover car haha
smile
Price for the right rear window 880 plus vat for a glass one, Perspex no longer available

Thank you beer Yours isn’t too shabby either!

Been back in blighty after a number of years away and the state of the roads is shocking. I don’t know how you manage to drive on some of them, especially as the 599 is even larger than the F12.

I agree that the roads are terrible, a couple of tyre failures and a dished rear wheel are proof enough of that.

She's only a little bit larger winktongue out
