I like raw, so the Cerb would be good. I think both engines can suffer from some big bills. If the Speed 6 engine has been sorted then I think they're supposed to be ok. The AJP8 engine however is just constantly in need of expensive work from what I can tell.
I had a 4.5 V8 Cerbera for a few years and loved it. Quality is miles behind the Ferrari in so many areas though, even comparing my late 90's Cerb with my '78 308. Both engines are fine if built properly, however, it was the Speed 6 which had by far the greater problems from the factory. Once rebuilt by a reputable company they're OK.The AJPV8 is the daddy though, a real animal of an engine, very light and without doubt the most exciting engine I've had the pleasure of owning (after I rebuilt it)...

I'm sure the Bentley is a great car but it just doesn't do it for me in the look department. The Cerbera sounds like although it ticks all the right boxes that general reliability and various other issues will spoil the fun. The DB7, although people say its a Jag-in-Drag is just a truly pretty car and so what if its full of Jag and Ford bits. It means they're cheaper to replace if they go faulty! And half as many cylinders to change the plugs on than the DB9!
My 308GTB has just been delivered to the silverstone auctions at race retro. They also have a GTS up for sale, and an american import so will be an interesting price check come Sunday evening.

In fairness, a well kept Cerb will be no less reliable than a DB7. The reason there are reliability issues largely stems from cars being passed about and poor or no maintenance being carried out. A good example will have all the factory-created cock-ups and weaknesses engineered out by now. As values have firmed owners are taking more cars of them. There are still plenty of rusty old dogs about, but the same can be said of any old sports car..Cerberaherts said:

Very true, and using them plenty helps a lot too.I had 6 TVRs in succession and all were daily drivers and not one let me down, whereas other folks I know had them as Sunday cars and had all sorts of issues.

The three 308's all sold today. Lot 603 the silver 1981 LHD GTSi sold for £29000. Lot 614 a 1978 308GTB sold for £54500 and Lot 646 a 1978 LHD GTS sold for £52000. I haven't bothered to add the 12.5% buyers fee plus VAT to these prices.
hi Geoffas you know we won't be reading anything into the prices for those cars !!
