2008 Gallardo 6 Year Advice - thoughts..
Discussion
Hi All,
Just a quick query around the 6 Year Service on the Gallardo - this is the BIG ONE....oxygen sensors and Charcoal canisters to be replaced.
In speaking with a few dealers, they have suggested due to low mileage (11k), they could inspect the Oxygen sensor and do the rest of the service.
I bought the car a year ago and it had an impeccable service history and am wondering if I should do the full service with the sensor and cansister change or just the full service on its own.
Thanks
Prashan

I don't know about Lambo's in particular but O2 sensors age with how long they have been exposed to v.hot exhaust gasses. Assuming the charcoal canister is for the fuel vapour re-circulation, it ages with the amount of fuel you use.
Both are highly correlated to the mileage so I would say the advise sounds good.
Thanks - HR Owen will check O2 sensor and replace canisters - got a full quote of £2800 which includes MOT, so will press ahead with that. Both are highly correlated to the mileage so I would say the advise sounds good.

hi mate
the 6 year should be 'interim' level service. even my big 4 year service was cheaper than that. the sensors are likely vw group sensors (they were even on my e39 m5) so likely there is a massive price mark up for lamborghini supplied.... personally, i'd get the sensors and canisters done by a specialist...
just changed the brake bulb on my car, one bulb cost 1.50, took an hour, and was fun to work on the car..... a dealer would have charged at least for .5 hrs labour plus.... yes we all got to live, but none the less....

Your welcome..... Further thought, my car was 6years old last year and 14k miles... But had a minor as that was due, and no sensor or canister fault was detected at either service or health check...
Pretty sure my 2008 is due a major...minor last year and major year before... Will let you know how I get on.Quick Update:

Have been overall impressed with the service from HR Owen - the whole team were also at Geneva in the Lambo area last Saturday.

Great job done by HR Owen on my 6 year service..was good to see the service team at the Geneva Motorshow whilst my car was still with them...Lamborghini stand was clearly the best.
