Ignore function
Discussion
I've often advocated NOT using ignore features on other forums before, reasoning that one doesn't have to take things to heart or have to respond or anything. I've just changed my mind

One problem encountered with these things is subsequent quoting. Not sure how that should be handled - if you leave the quote in, the ignore thing's redundant, but if you strip the "ignoree"'s content out of quoted posts as well, it'd look a bit odd.
Maybe replace content with a text flag, eg
Personally I'd like to forget the person even exists if I'm ignoring them but it's the only way around the quote thing I can think of.

Actually, that's not workable is it...cos the content of the quoter's post is "just" text, albeit formatted. There's no link to the quotee's id or owt in the body of the quoter's post (and you'd have to base any ignore function on userid, naturally).
Each post has the id of the poster buried in it. My idea would be to simply strip out threads on which one of your "ignored" posters had posted in the What's New and forum thread lists.something like...
...AND NOT ((SELECT DISTINCT(POSTERID) FROM THREAD WHERE THREADID=THREADNR) IN (SELECT POSTERID FROM USERIGNORELIST))
